On the morning of December 9, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports and the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, organized the 3rd Cycling Friendship Journey for Green Hanoi” program. The event saw the participation of delegates from Vietnam and around the globe.
In his inaugural address, the Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Nguyen Ngoc Ky, highlighted that the 3rd Cycling Friendship Journey for Green Hanoi program aimed to elevate the awareness of Hanoi residents and workers regarding the preservation of a green living environment. The initiative encourages continuous efforts to protect the environment and reduce air pollution actively. Simultaneously, it seeks to intensify friendship exchange activities and promote the cultured, civilized, and modern image of the Capital City, advocating for a city that stands for peace and is green, clean, and beautiful. The program aligns to reduce net emissions, fostering green economic development, and circular economy practices, and encouraging the use of environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

This program stands as one of the meaningful activities celebrating the success of COP28 and continuing the commitments made at COP26 on climate change. Vietnam, along with 150 other countries, is striving to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. “This event provides us with an opportunity to showcase the serene beauty of Hanoi, especially around Hoan Kiem Lake, which is ideal for leisure and relaxation during the weekends. We hope that people, both domestically and internationally, will continue the habit of using environmentally friendly bicycles to promote health and well-being,” shared Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ky.
