The documentary exhibition “Long Bien Bridge: Formation and Transformation” vividly reenacts the historical witness of Hanoi from the past, present, to the future. From ancient tales to contemporary issues of societal significance intertwined with the bridge, each narrative will be encapsulated within the six spaces of the exhibition.
The documentary exhibition “Long Bien Bridge: Formation and Transformation” will help viewers explore the construction and development history of the more than 100-year-old bridge.
Taking place within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023, the exhibition is conducted by the Architectural Association of the University of Construction and ADA Company. It unfolds from November 17 to December 31 at Long Bien Bridge, offering diverse perspectives on the over 100-year-old bridge.
With six distinct spaces, the exhibition aims to guide viewers through the construction, development, and maintenance history of Long Bien Bridge, showcasing its relevance in modern life. Urban life, daily activities of the people, wholesale markets, and tourism will be dynamically represented with innovative forms. This also emphasizes the intimate connection between Long Bien Bridge and the Red River, the riverside land shaping the residents’ way of life.
Contemporary issues such as Long Bien Bridge and human interaction with the environment, the landscape on both sides of the bridge, are also introduced in the exhibition, raising questions about the future of this historical landmark in the context of Hanoi’s continuous transformation into a “Creative City.”
Held at Long Bien Bridge itself, the exhibition provides a multi-sensory experience for visitors, incorporating paintings, photos, videos, audio, and various display structures. 3D models, recycled products, pavilions, panoramas, perceptual boards, and more are utilized to convey messages and listen to the public’s sentiments about the bridge.
