Notable dignitaries attended the opening ceremony, including Tran Thi Phuong, Standing Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, and key leadership from the Vietnam-China Friendship Association: Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports and Vice President of the Association; NSND Do Tien Dinh, Vice President; Nguyen Thanh Bon, Head of Office; and Tran Thi Hong Nhan, Secretary General.
The organizing committee presented commemorative flowers and flags to participating units.
In her opening remarks, Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, highlighted that the tournament was organized in accordance with Plan No. 751/KH-SVHTT dated October 23, 2024. The event aims to continue strengthening and expanding people-to-people diplomacy with China, with special emphasis on collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam. The tournament aligns with Notification No. 1853/TB-LHHN from October 25, 2024, by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, which outlined strategic directions for 2025, including the 13th Vietnam-China People’s Forum and a series of cultural exchange activities.

The Vietnam-China Friendship Sports Tournament in Hanoi will take place on December 6-7, 2024, featuring nearly 200 athletes from 12 different units. Competitors will compete in four sports: badminton, table tennis, sack jumping, and tug-of-war (for both male and female participants). Following the competitions, the organizing committee will award First, Second, and Third prizes to the most outstanding athletes.
