In the context of celebrating the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2017) by the whole country in general and Hanoi capital in particular, on July 18, 2017 morning, Hanoi Library held the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of book and newspapers with the theme “70 years full of respect and affection“.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Doan Quynh Dung – Deputy Head of Library Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga – Director of National Library of Vietnam; Mr. Pham The Khang – President of Vietnam Library Association; Mr. Nguyen Khac Loi – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Representative of Hanoi Party Committee’s Department of Propaganda and Education, Poetry Club for Teachers, Cultural and Historical Club, together with Youth Union members of Target Protection Police Regiment, Hanoi Mobile Police Regiment, Technical Center – Voice of Vietnam and the Division of Police Records.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Khac Loi – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports confirmed that July 27 is the occasion for the Party, the people and the army to express their gratitude, respect, love, affection, and responsibility towards war invalids, wounded and sick soldiers, families of diseased soldiers and martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution. In the context of celebrating the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day by the whole country in general and Hanoi capital in particular, the books and newspapers with the theme “70 years full of respect and affection” will remain readers of Vietnam’s glorious history and this will be chance for them to show their gratitude towards diseased soldiers and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national defense. Besides, through the exhibition, ethical tradition of “showing gratitude towards people with merit”, “acting worthy of sacrifice of the dead”, the patriotism, and the pride of the heroic tradition of the nation has been educated for all people, especially the younger generation.
Visitors at the Exhibition
About 500 materials divided into 4 fields were provided in the exhibition, namely: The Party, the State and the policies on war invalids and martyrs; Some examples of heroes and martyrs in the struggle for national defense; Unforgettable song – Memories of war; Hanoi and the work of “acting worthy of sacrifice of the dead”.
After the opening ceremony, a meeting was held for celebrating the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day between the Youth Union members from the following Branches: Hanoi Library, Capital Youth Newspaper, Target Protection Police Regiment, Hanoi Mobile Police Regiment, Technical Center – Voice of Vietnam and the Division of Police Records, with guests being veterans and invalids who participated in the battle to protect Quang Tri ancient citadel in 1972.
