On April 21, Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organized the Friendship Tennis Tournament 2018 in Hanoi.

Attending the tournament were the Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Communication Mr. To Van Dong; Chairman of The Vietnam – China Friendship Association, Hanoi City; Chairman of Tay Ho District People’s Council, Chairman of the Vietnam – Korea Friendship Association; Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivar Republic of Venezuela in Vietnam, Mr. Jorge Rondon Uzcategui – the Head of Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam and more than 100 athletes as Ambassadors, foreign diplomatic officials, officials in the field of culture, sports and public relations of Hanoi city.
Speech at the opening ceremony, the Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong stressed that the Friendship Tennis Tournament 2018 is one of the meaningful sports exchange activities organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in cooperation with Hanoi Department of Culture and Information to facilitate foreign diplomatic officials working in Hanoi to meet and exchange with the officials of culture, sports and public relations of Hanoi City, thereby contributing to enhancing the friendship cooperation between Hanoi city and embassies of other countries and international organizations in the City; building bridges of cooperation in the fields interested by all parties, promoting international integration and attracting investment in socio-economic development cooperation between Hanoi City and the countries in the world.
For the attending athletes, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivar Republic of Venezuela in Vietnam & the Head of Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam, Mr. Jorge Rondon Uzcategui thanked the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports for holding a meaningful playground for diplomatic officials and the international community. “This sport exchange is a bridge that connects international friends to their places to work and live, in order to enhance the understanding between international friends and Vietnamese people”, Ambassador Jorge Rondon Uzcategui said.
This year’s tournament attracted more than 100 athletes from 20 units and diplomatic agencies in Hanoi, including many foreigners working in the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, Embassy of Malaysia, Embassy of Mongolia, Embassy of Russia, Embassy of Palestine, Embassy of France, Embassy of Philippines, Embassy of Venezuela, and UNIS, etc.
In the Tournament, athletes competed in many categories such as men’s singles aged under 390, men’s singles aged 30 to 45, men’s singles aged 45 to 60, men’s doubles aged 31 to 45, men’s doubles aged 46 to 60, women’s singles aged under 30, women’s singles aged 31 to 60, etc.
At the end of the tournament, the Embassy of France won the first prize, the Embassy of Russia the second and UNIS the third.
