The work has rich content, focusing on building and consolidating unity and solidarity in the Party, fighting to self-criticism and criticism, and implementing democracy in the Party. For the first time in Vietnam, a Party General Secretary wrote: “Communists have a duty to tell the truth to the masses, to guide the masses, not to follow or fool them.” Comrade emphasized, even if there are mistakes and failures, “you must have the courage to open your eyes and see the truth”. He criticized the left-wing or right-wing tendencies of some cadres and party members, General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu asked the Party to “openly, boldly and honestly point out its mistakes and find the approach to correct them, avoid the tendency to compromise, thus not weakening the Party but making the Party unified and strong”.

The Vietnamese revolutionary movement continued to develop rapidly in a new direction thanks to the timely direction of the Party, and the revolutionary forces also avoided big losses when the enemy attempted to repress them. While the national liberation movement was just getting started, Comrade Nguyen Van Cu and a number of other senior Party leaders were arrested in early 1940. However, the Party Central Committee at the Conference commended the 6th Plenum’s wise and prompt judgments and decisions, as well as the sharp and inventive endeavors stated by General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu. The 7th Central Committee (November 1940) and supplemented and completed at the 8th Central Conference (May 1941). The 110th birthday of Comrade General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu is an occasion to remember his glorious and beautiful revolutionary life, to express gratitude for his outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Each level of party committee, party organization, cadre, and party member should continue to study and apply the spirit and thought of self-criticism and criticism stated in the work “Self-criticism” in order to contribute to the Party’s building and correction in terms of political, ideological, ethical, way of life, organization, and personnel.
