Acting on the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Ha Noi People’s Committee, from 24th April to 14th May 2017, Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports dispatched a 18-member art troupe of Ha Noi Reformed Theatre representing Viet Nam to perform at the 14th UN Grand Commemorative Anniversary of Buddha’s Birth Day.
At this 14th UN Coomemorative Anniversary of Buddha’s Birth Day, the government of Srilanka invited 72 delegations from all over the world to participate and perform in her entire country. The night of 14th UN Grand Commemorative Anniversary of Buddha’s Birth Day was held at the national opera house of Nelumpokuma in the Capital of Colombo with about 2000 seats and live televised . The music programme was selected by the Ministry of Culture of Srilanka after its rehearsal for performing during the Grand Ceremony Night, including the 4 countries as the host of Srilanka, Viet Nam, China and India. Attending the ceremony was Mr. Bui Huu Duoc, Director of the Buddhism Department of the Government’s Religions Committee, superior buddhist monk Thich Thanh Nhieu, Vice Chairman of the Trustee Council of Viet Nam Buddhism Society and the Vietnamese Embassy in Srilanka.
In Srilanka, the Reformed Theatre had presented the excellent art performances at the Grand Ceremony and at the Vietnamese Embassy in service of the overseas Vietnamese there. The art programme of “Lotus dance” and “Love Duets offer betel nuts” showed by the Reformed Theatre of Ha Noi had left deep impression in the heart of the Srilankan friends.
At the reception, H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Development of Srilanka expressed thanks to Ha Noi art troupe for participating and bringing to Srilanka the most amazing performance and wished to maintain a future longstanding cooperation.
With the art performances presented by the Reformed Theatre of Ha Noi, it had contributed to enhancing the image of the people, country and position of Viet Nam in the eyes of international friends
