On 22nd February, Ha Noi’s 2017 festival of ceremonial songs art was held at the Centre for Silk Production and Business of Van Phuc, Ha Dong. Mr. Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports attended and inaugurated the event.
There were 8 ceremonial song clubs participating in the festival from the districts of Tay Ho, Phu Xuyen, Hoai Duc, Dong Anh, Dan Phuong, North Tu Liem, Ba Dinh and Chuong My, with nearly 40 items presented. Together with the well-known singers within the ceremonial songs circle like merit artist Nguyen Thi Khuou (aged 90 from Chanh Thon club – Phu Xuyen), Tran thi Nhanh (aged 68 from Dong Tru club – Chuong My) and many other young singers taking part in the festival received great admiration from the audiences such as singer Hoang Thai Phuong (aged 14 from Tay Ho club), singer Doan Linh Huong (aged 21 of Ba Dinh club).
At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee presented special prizes to the oldest singer Nguyen Thi Khuou (Phu Xuyen) and the youngest singer Nguyen Thuc Trinh (Dong Anh). Besides, there were 10 prizes of A1 category, 7 prizes of A2 category, 3 consolence prizes, 5 prizes for drummers, 5 prizes for musical players.
Obviously, the success of the festival has contributed to the conservation and promotion the traditional art of ceremonial singings; sustaining, developing and hightening the operating quality of music schools and ceremonial singing club at grassroots level. Hence, more attention will be given to folk artisans and non-professional art performers; at the same time, it has also helped evoke people’s spirits and love for the ceremonial singing type. Therefore, the search and nourishement of talents will be enhanced, and the performing activities and promotion of this type of the ceremonial singing art will too be stepped up among the audiences both domestically and internationally. This will result in meeting the creative demands and art enjoyment of the masses.
