Hanoi authorities pay tribute to former Hoa Lo prisoners

In the afternoon of July 21, Hanoi authorities held a candlelight tribute ceremony in memorial of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2017) in the Hoa Lo Prison Relic (Hanoi).

 Attending guests at the ceremony were elder revolutionaries and revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the enemy at Hoa Lo Prison, Mr. To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and representatives of Party Committees of Hanoi authorities, Hanoi Youth Union, and departments and agencies of the city.

After the incense ceremony, in her speech at the meeting with the elder revolutionaries and historical witnesses of the revolutionary relic of Hoa Lo, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Youth Union Secretary of Hanoi authority bloc, expressed her deep gratitude to the heroes and the elite generations of the country who had sacrificed their blood for the youth of today to live peace, affirmed the youth’s responsibility in promoting the tradition of the nation and in learning to build a generation of young people with bright mind and great ambition who are capable of continuing the glorious tradition of the nation and developing the capital and the country.

Major General Huynh Dac Huong met with young members of the Youth Union

Shortly after, in the meeting with young members of the Youth Union, Major General Huynh Dac Huong, former Commander and Political Commissar of the Command of Vietnamese Volunteered Soldiers and Experts in Laos, Head of Contact Center for Revolutionary Soldiers Arrested and Imprisoned by the Enemy, clearly stated that the youth was the force that would decide the path of the country’s history and therefore must always be aware of their responsibilities to the fatherland and the nation and train their willpower because, as he said, all the difficulties, however large, might be overcome by individual and collective wills.

The youth of the city’s authority bloc also offered incense in tribute to heroic martyrs at Hanoi Cemetery and gave gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, families entitled to assistance, and relatives of people with merit in Ung Hoa District and Ba Vi District.
