Continuing its mission to bring traditional Cheo art to audiences, the Hanoi Cheo Theatre will present a special art program during the 2025 Lunar New Year, titled “Cheo Comedy Series – Folk Song Melodies.”
The program will feature a variety of captivating performances, including: folk song dance “To Khuc Giao Duyen” (The Duet Melody), Lyrics by Tat Trong. Cheo dance and song performance “Ngay Hoi Que Huong” (The Village Festival), Lyrics by Tat Trong. Short play “Tu Dai Dong Duong” (The Four Generations), written by Dinh Tien Dung; a work adapted to Cheo written by Quang Bien, directed by People’s Artist Tran Quoc Chiem. Sketch “Mot Ba Hai Ong” (One Wife, Two Husbands), written by Quang Bien, directed by Meritorious Artist Le Tuan). Performance “Muu Cao Thi Hen” (The Scheme of Thi Hen), adapted from the folk tale “Ngeu, So, Oc, Hen” (Clams, Mussels, Snails, and Cockles), written by Nguyen Van Tien, directed by People’s Artist Tran Quoc Chiem).
The performances will feature renowned artists such as People’s Artist Thanh Loan, Meritorious Artists Quoc Phong, Hong Tham, Le Tuan, and talented performers like Tien Dat, Xuan Dung, Nhat Tuan, Dao Dung, Quynh Trang, Nam Cuong, Hong Thang, Tien Nghi, Le Hang, Thuy Hang, along with other artists from Hanoi Cheo Theatre.
The special art program will also feature contributions from: Composers Tat Trong and Hung Cuong, Choreographer Master Phung Khai, Assistant Director Meritorious Artist Ngoc Anh, Performance Conductor Tien Nghi, Orchestra Conductor Hung Cuong, Sound Designer Xuan Quang, Lighting Designer Duy Phuong, and Artistic Director People’s Artist Thu Huyen.
