Taking place from April 20-27, the National Championship of Petanque 2021 is organized by the General Department of Physical Education and Sports and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
The National Championship of Petanque 2021 brings together all the top athletes from across the country to attend.
This year’s tournament brings together nearly 200 athletes from 16 units nationwide. Athletes compete in 10 events, including Men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s trios, women’s trios, men’s technique, women’s technique, and men’s technique. Each competition content will be divided into round-robin groups, selecting the strongest athletes to enter the next round. Particularly in the men’s and women’s technical content, there will be a pairing and a knockout.
At the end of the tournament, with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, Hanoi ranked third in the whole delegation. Although only ranked 3rd, the Hanoi delegation is expected to have the largest number of athletes participating in the 31st SEA Games, namely 5 athletes. Because the selection of athletes to compete in international tournaments is based on the ranking of athletes based on domestic tournaments in the past two years.
Leading the tournament this year is Dong Thap delegation with 2 gold medals, 1 bronze medal. In second place is Hau Giang delegation with 2 gold medals.
The National Championship of Petanque 2021 is the most important tournament of the year for petanque, because the results from this tournament are calculated according to the ranking of athletes and coaches. Along with that, the best athletes of the tournament will also be selected for the national team to prepare for international tournaments, especially the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi.
