With the theme “Preserving and Promoting the Cultural Identity of the Muong Ethnic Group in the New Era”, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will participate in the Opening Ceremony and a series of activities of the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival, 2025.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has just issued a plan to coordinate in organizing the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival, 2025. Accordingly, the participation and coordination in organizing the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival, 2025 aims to honor and present the traditional cultural values of the Muong ethnic community to domestic and international friends. At the same time, it strengthens the promotion of the image of Vietnam as a country rich in cultural identity, united and harmonious among ethnic groups; demonstrating the attention of the Party and State to the preservation and promotion of the cultural values of the Muong ethnic people in the process of renovation, integration, and development.

This is also an opportunity to widely introduce and promote to businesses and tourists the potential and strengths of cultural, sports, and tourism development as well as the unique cultural heritage values of the Muong people in the renovation period. Along with that, it attracts investment resources for tourism development, creating momentum to promote promotion activities, regional linkage, accelerating the formation and development of key tourism zones and sites in localities where the Muong ethnic community lives.

During the 3 days of the festival, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will organize a booth for displaying and promoting the Muong culture of Hanoi with Muong musical instruments and costumes; introducing Muong culture within the large Vietnamese cultural family; socio-economic achievements, tourist attractions, specialties, OCOP products, and intangible heritage included in the national list.

Along with that, traditional handicraft performances will be organized at the booth to introduce and promote traditional culture. Among these, 1 – 2 typical traditional crafts will be selected (brocade weaving, bamboo and rattan weaving, making do paper, crafting ethnic musical instruments) to perform and present production steps, materials, tools, and processes to create the products.

Also within the framework of the festival, the Department of Culture and Sports will stage excerpts introducing festivals and cultural rituals with unique and typical values lasting about 20 minutes; simulating the characteristics of folk belief culture that express traditional cultural identity, promoting positive elements while eliminating negative, outdated elements no longer suitable for current cultural life.

It will coordinate in organizing an artistic parade performing the Muong ethnic culture around Hoan Kiem Lake according to the route: Hai Ba Trung – Trang Tien – Dinh Tien Hoang – Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square at 16:00 on November 22, 2025.

At Ba Kieu Temple area, from 19:30 to 21:00 on November 22, the Department will organize a night show to introduce and promote the traditional culture and arts of the Muong ethnic group.

Along with activities taking place in the city center, the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival, 2025 will take place from November 21 to November 23, 2025 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, Dong Mo, Hanoi with the participation of artisans, performers, and athletes from 5 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Son La, and Thanh Hoa – localities with a large Muong ethnic community
