Over the past time, thanks to the promotion of propaganda, education and awareness of environmental protection, the Women’s Union of Thanh Oai district at all levels has mobilized a large number of officials and members to actively participate in green, clean, and beautiful models such as: “5 no, 3 cleanliness”, “Turning dumpsite into flower gardens”, “Exchanging plastic waste for green plants”, “Increasing one flower pot, reducing one garbage bag”, “Flowers on gates and walls of house” in 100% of communes and towns in the district. As a result, positive effects have been created in the residential community.

Many units of the Union have taken creative and effective measures. Hong Duong commune is one of the communes that have always paid attention to environmental protection. Responding to the movement “Building a green, clean, and beautiful village” launched by the Communal Women’s Union, the responsible staff of units of the Union visits each family to encourage them to clean roads and alleys in their village every Saturday and Sunday; to guide how to conduct at-source waste classification and dump trash at the designated place; to mobilize families to plant flowers in front of and on the wall of their house. With the socialization funding, up to now, the women’s union members in the commune have together created 9 flower roads in most of the villages with a total length of 2 kilometers, and many mural roads. 7 out of 7 units of the Women’s Union in Cao Duong Commune have registered to build green, clean, and beautiful self-governing roads; to limit the use of plastic bags; to conduct domestic waste classification; to collect used pesticide packaging; to create flower roads, etc., contributing to raising the awareness of environmental protection in the community, keeping their villages green, clean, and beautiful, improving people’s quality of life. In the commune, there are about a dozen flower roads. The Communal Women’s Union has, in collaboration with relevant units, removed 2 dump sites in Doc Moc and behind Cao Xa village, and directed the unit of Women’s Unions in Cao Xa, Ang Phao, and Muc Xa villages to cooperate with mass organizations in the village in planting flowers on three roads with a length of more than 700m. In My Hung commune, the wall along Nhue river dike was decorated with colorful paintings on topics that are closely related to life, demonstrating the efforts of communal women’s union members and the community in eliminating dump sites and creating a green, clean, and beautiful environment. Strikingly, members of Unit of Women’s Union in Quang Minh Village, with a donation of more than VND 200 million, have planted 200 flower pots, hung 150 decorative lanterns, and painted 12 murals, etc., contributing to beautifying their village. Using funds granted by the Women’s Union and local socialization budget, the Unit of Women’s Union in Ninh Duong village – Thanh Cao commune has built a safe and eco-friendly playground for women and children with a total value of VND 35 million. Officers and women’s members have themselves repainted the walls, built flower tubs and planted green trees, etc.
With many good models and effective ways of working together to protect the environment, all levels of the Women’s Union of Thanh Oai district have contributed, together with the community, to create a “green” lifestyle in the new rural countryside, creating a better, fresh, and clean living environment.
