Implementing the direction of the City People’s Committee on promoting the City decoration to serve the major public holidays and celebration day of the country and the Capital in 2019, on January 25, 2019, Hanoi City Department of Culture and Sports has developed a plan and launched the Hanoi City decoration and design campaign 2019. After launching, the Organization Board has received a total of 86 works participating in the contest. After 2 rounds of voting and scoring, the Jury has found 12 best works to receive the award of the Hanoi City decoration and design campaign 2019, including 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 04 Third Prizes and 5 Encouragement prizes.

From the works participating in the campaign, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has selected the decoration plans for Hanoi city to welcome the new year 2020 and celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Rate and 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 10 routes including Trang Tien, Trang Thi, Ngo Quyen, Phan Chu Trinh, Hang Bai, Ba Trieu, Ly Thuong Kiet, Dien Bien Phu, Phan Dinh Phung and Thanh Nien, arrange 04 lighting model clusters in traffic islands in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Bank, August Revolution Square and May 1 Square and one archway at Vo Chi Cong street.
According to Organization Board, the decoration and lighting work in the City this year has many innovations, increasingly sophisticated and promoting the value of Hanoi’s thousand years of civilization in the period of integration and development, with Hanoi’s cultural symbol and spring flowers, and welcoming the new year 2020 … The decoration samples are designed in richer and more diverse forms, using modern technology of light movement, creating urban highlights, but not hindering the visibility of road users.
The campaign has mobilized the talents, intellect and experience of many painters from companies and businesses as well á students at the specialized universities to participate in the overall decoration of routes, squares and traffic islands in various forms, contributing to beautify the landscape of Hanoi – thousand years of culture, Heroic Capital, City for Peace.
“The works winning this year have changed compared to last year. However, they are still based on old ideas such as apricot blossom, peach blossom, star … Although apricot blossom and peach blossom on the New Year are indispensable, I hope the designs of the next year can be formatted and stylized to be more modern”, said painter Tran Khanh Chuong, Head of the Jury of the contest.

Painter Tran Khanh Chuong also said that there are works highly appreciated by the Board such as decorations on traffic islands in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and works with the symbol of Hanoi. He also said that in the next contests, we should refer to and learn from the decoration of countries and Vietnamize them to have the higher-quality works.
On the same day, the Department of Culture and Sports continued to launch the City design and decoration campaign 2020. To continue searching for beautiful and impressive designs, the campaign does not limit the candidates who therefore will include all organizations and individuals of Vietnamese citizenship or residing abroad who have the aspirations and competence following the rules of the contest. The works are printed on A4 size paper and named. Each author can participate in many positions and design options, not limited to the number of works. Time to receive works is from August 24 to August 31, 2020.
The Organization Board hopes that with the investment of time and effort, the campaign can continue to find many new designs, contributing to creating the new look for Hanoi and helping Hanoi increasingly bright, green, clean and beautiful.
