On occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day (27/7/1947 – 27/7/2017), in the afternoon of July 10, Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Labour- Invalids and Social Affairs, chaired the press conference to inform news agencies of upcoming significant activities.
Incense offering and commemoration of heroic martyrs at the Monument for heroic martyrs
Specifically, the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the President, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Hanoi People’s Committee are organizing the incense offering commemorating heroic martyrs at the Monument for heroic martyrs, paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, and the National-level 70th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day by early July 27, 2017.
Earlier on July 26, at Viet Xo Friendship Cultural Labor Palace, the Organizing Committee is commending typical contributors to the cause of national liberation. Attending the conference will be nearly 1,300 delegates, including 700 contributors to the cause of national liberation. The Prime Minister will award certificates of merit to 70 delegates and the Minister of Labour- Invalids and Social Affairs will grant certificates of merit to 630 attending delegates.
In the evening of the same day, the video-conference on VTV1 channel to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, war invalids, wounded soldiers, and contributors to the cause of national liberation will be held at four locations of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Tri, and Thai Nguyen with the theme “Vietnamese standing”.
Candlelight tribute ceremony
In addition, during such time, many activities of incense offering and candlelight tribute to heroic martyrs will be held nationwide, including four main places: Vi Xuyen Cemetery (Ha Giang), Tan Bien Cemetery (Tay Ninh), Con Dao Martyrs’ Cemetery and Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Ministry of Labour- Invalids and Social Affairs co-launched a campaign to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day, getting the support from 55 entities for the Central Gratitude Fund in the total amount of VND 3,782,700,000.
