On the evening of October 17, at the outdoor stage of the City Cultural Center, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organized the preliminary round of the Mass Art Festival “Hanoi – Faith and Hope” in 2024, practically celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024), welcoming the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 – 2029.

Attending the preliminary round of the Festival were Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Vi Thanh Hoai; Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District Pham Tuan Long; Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dan Phuong District Dao Thi Hong; leaders of departments, offices and units under the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; leaders of the Center for Culture – Information and Sports of districts, towns; project owner of the Countryside Market – Quintessence of Vietnamese tea, Sponsor of the Festival, etc.

The 2024 Mass Arts Festival “Hanoi – Faith and Hope” is organized on a large scale to propagate and educate the thousand-year-old history of culture and heroism of Thang Long – Hanoi, the glorious revolutionary struggle tradition of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of the Capital, thereby, arousing pride, joining hands and unanimity to build and develop the “Cultured – Civilized – Modern” Capital in the process of integration and development.
The festival is an opportunity for localities to meet, exchange, learn, create opportunities to promote traditional cultural values, and at the same time create new and diverse cultural products, meeting the creative and enjoyment needs of the public in the capital.

In her opening speech at the Preliminary Round of the Festival, Director of the City Cultural Center Ly Thi Thuy Hanh – Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Festival emphasized that since its launch, the Festival has received enthusiastic response from districts, towns and cities. The People’s Committees of the units have paid attention to directing relevant departments, branches and sectors in the localities to develop plans and organize the Festival from the commune, ward and town levels to the district, town and city levels and select outstanding performances to participate in the City-level Festival.

At this year’s Festival, 19/30 units organized Festivals at commune, ward and town levels, including: Ung Hoa, Ba Dinh, Soc Son, Thanh Xuan, Chuong My, Dan Phuong, Hai Ba Trung, Quoc Oai, Gia Lam, Ha Dong, Me Linh, Long Bien, Cau Giay, Thuong Tin, My Duc, Hoang Mai, Son Tay, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Oai; 24/30 units organized Festivals at district, town and city levels and 30/30 units participated in the City-level Festival.

The programs participating in the Festival have the content of praising the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, the great President Ho Chi Minh who led our nation in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, building the country for a rich and powerful Vietnam; praising the homeland, country, people; praising the Hanoi capital – City for peace – “Cultured – Civilized – Modern” Creative city, with great achievements, traditional cultural values imbued with national identity, new and diverse cultural products with modernity; praising the people of Hanoi with the gallant, elegant, loyal, civilized qualities that have been distilled and crystallized in the process of formation and development of the thousand-year-old capital.

After the opening of the Preliminary Round of the Festival, there were competition programs of 10 units on the evening of October 17. According to the comments of the Jury, the programs were staged grandly, methodically, elaborately and highly creatively. In particular, the competition programs combine the performance of the Festival Drum and the Festival Flag Dance with traditional cultural values along with the Choirs and other special selected art performances, bringing newness, appeal and excitement to the Festival.

The actors performed confidently, “burned” themselves out and shone on the art stage, bringing a “party” of music that was both pleasing to the ears and eyes of the delegates, the Jury and the large audience with many levels of emotions, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere to welcome the important events of the Capital and the country.
