On the afternoon of October 22, 2024, the People’s Committee of Son Tay Town organized a press conference to announce the Miss Heritage Vietnamese Ao Dai competition. The conference was attended by leaders of the People’s Committee of Son Tay, representatives from central and Hanoi government departments, the organizing committee, judges, advisors of the competition, famous artists, beauty queens, runners-up, musicians, and media agencies.
According to the information from the press conference, the semifinal of the competition will take place on November 23 at the main stage of the Son Tay Old Town pedestrian street, with the participation of 100 contestants. The contestants will showcase traditional Ao Dai outfits and participate in photo sessions in Ao Dai.
This event is part of the many activities organized by Son Tay Town to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day on October 10, 2024. The competition aims to find a beauty who possesses not only beauty but also intelligence and talent, to promote the image of the Vietnamese Ao Dai and highlight the role of Vietnamese women in the new era. Through this contest, the Ao Dai is also elevated as a cultural item in diplomacy and affirms its place in the life of the Vietnamese people.
The 2024 Miss Heritage Vietnamese Ao Dai competition is open to Vietnamese women aged 18 to 29, with a height of over 1.6 meters, a high school diploma or higher, not married, not registered for marriage, and without children, and no criminal record.
According to the leadership of the Son Tay People’s Committee, organizing the Miss Heritage Vietnamese Ao Dai competition 2024 will highlight the unique cultural values of Son Tay, providing an opportunity to introduce and elevate the traditional cultural values of the town.
The competition will select 1 Miss and 4 runners-up. The winner of the Miss Heritage Vietnamese Ao Dai 2024 will receive a prize worth 2 billion VND. The judges for the competition include People’s Artist Tran Nhuong, People’s Artist Xuan Bac, Meritorious Artist Thu Phuong, Miss Universe Vietnam Ngoc Chau, and more.
The grand final of the competition is scheduled for November 24, 2024, at the main stage of the Son Tay Old Town pedestrian street, featuring 30 contestants. They will participate in several rounds: self-introduction, evening gown presentation, Ao Dai presentation, and Q&A.
Alongside the beauty competition, the organizers will hold a seminar titled “Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage – Tradition and Integration,” hosted by the Son Tay People’s Committee and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Preservation Fund, at the Vietnam Women’s Museum.
