Numerous cultural and tourism activities are set to unfold in Duong Lam Ancient Village, Son Tay Town, on November 25 and 26, 2023.
Marking the 18th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, these two days of the 25th and 26th of November, 2023 will witness a plethora of cultural and tourism events, extending a warm welcome to visitors and locals alike, inviting them to explore and partake in the experiences.
Among the standout cultural and tourism activities are the Art Exhibition themed “White Clouds of the Land of Dao” at the entrance of Duong Lam Ancient Village, the Creative Space Exhibition titled “Flow” at the Doai Creative and Doai Community areas, and a rural market in Duong Lam showcasing local specialties and traditional culinary experiences at Mong Phu Communal House. Furthermore, there will be hands-on experiences and artistic performances in traditional lacquer art and pottery-making within the Craft Village space featuring several skilled artisans.
Duong Lam Ancient Village, home to hundreds of ancient houses, some dating back 300-400 years, is a cultural gem preserving the distinctive heritage of the Northern region with its ancient banyan trees, river wharves, communal yards, village gates, communal houses, temples, and shrines. It is also the birthplace of two kings and many national heroes, such as Ngo Quyen, Phung Hung, and the third highest academic title (tham hoa) Giang Van Minh.
In 2005, the architectural and artistic heritage of Duong Lam Ancient Village was nationally recognized. Son Tay town is currently aspiring to elevate Duong Lam to the status of a Special National Architectural and Artistic Heritage Site.
Over the years, the National Architectural and Artistic Heritage Site of Duong Lam Ancient Village has become a frequent destination for sightseeing and tourism activities, serving as a cultural and tourist hub for both Duong Lam Commune and Son Tay Town, drawing in a diverse crowd of residents and visitors alike.
