In the context of the complicated situation of Covid-19 virus disease, based on discussion and careful consideration of all parties (Chairman of F1 Group, Chairman of FIA, Director of Vietnam Grand Prix and Chairman of City People’s Committee) reached a consensus: Postponing F1 2020 in Hanoi.

As expected, the F1 race of Vietnam Grand Prix in Hanoi will take place from April 3 to 5, 2020. However, due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, the Organizing Committee decided to postpone the race in Hanoi. Stakeholders stressed that the above postponement is necessary to ensure the safety of the health of all people and the safety of members of F1 racing teams.
Hanoi City People’s Committee, F1 Group, FIA and Vietnam Grand Prix Co., Ltd. continue to coordinate to closely monitor the pandemic situation soon. The organizers also agreed that the alternative schedules will be made in 2020 to be suitable for the situation when the pandemic is well-controlled.
In the evening of March 13, Vietnam Grand Prix Co., Ltd. (VGPC), the organizer of the F1 Vietnam race, officially announced the suspension of the race in Hanoi due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Before Hanoi, 3 races had to be postponed, canceled or held without audiences. In particular, the first race in the World’ F1 system took place in Bahrain Grand Prix took place without audiences and was only live on television.
Recently, F1 Australia race has also been delayed because of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Planning to hold the China Grand Prix in April will be postponed indefinitely.
