The exhibition displays 36 works by 29 authors of many generations from Indochina Fine Arts, the Resistance Art up to now.
The works in the exhibition praise the Communist Party of Vietnam, shows the love of the military and people to Uncle Ho, or express the first spring of independence and freedom through works such as: “The Party is a gentle mother” (Pham Xuan Thi, 1958), “President Ho Chi Minh 1890 – 1969” (Vuong Hoc Bao, 1970), “Spring 1975” (Tran Tia, 1975), “Listening to the country” (Vu Ngoc Khoi, 1978), “Uncle Ho finds a way to save the country” (Diep Minh Chau, 1985)…
Viewers can also feel the spring atmosphere of the country through works “Voice of musical instrument” (Ta Quang Bao, 1941), “Rowing Association” (Ninh Thi Den, 1984), “Spring dance” (Tran Viet Ha, 2001) and works on life-building topics such as “Furrow” (Tran Thiet, 1980), “Youthfulness” (Pham Ngoc Tuan, 1983).
Works in the 1970s mainly follow the realism trend, being the premise for further developments. From the renovation period up to now, following the modern trend, artists often form their own artistic styles, showing their special attention to social issues directly or implicitly, for example, “The gift of the sea” (Hoang Mai Thiep, 2017), “Breast milk” (Nguyen Khac Quan, 2005), “Teammate” (Vu Huu Nhung, 2003) …
Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, the Director of Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, said that Vietnamese sculptors have promoted the tradition to create a modern sculpture platform with a variety of shaping languages, expressing a true and vivid view of love for life and people throughout the country and conveying messages about current social and environmental issues.
From the works to be displayed, viewers can see the change in creative tendencies, the diverse expressions of blocks and shapes, and the richness of materials. Besides, the works also show the obvious personal style of each sculptor, inheriting the traditional style but expressing the unique and modern style, showing the honest and optimistic vision about the changes and developments of the country and its people.
