Oc Eo culture is an ancient one in the Mekong Delta, dating between the second and seventh centuries AD and discovered and excavated by the French archaeologist Louis Malleret at Oc Eo mound, Vong The commune, Thoai Son district, An Giang province in 1944. Oc Eo is also a great culture in Vietnamese history, associated with the country, people in the Mekong River Delta, and the Oc Eo culture is closely related to ancient Southeast Asia history.
The Oc Eo cultural objects are very rich, including many kinds of materials such as pottery, wood, stone, gold, bronze, tin, glass in which its relic features Brahmans, Buddhism, owns scripts, currency, multi-industry manufacture system such as agriculture, handicrafts, also commerce. Especially, this culture has relationship with contemporary political and cultural centers and a rich & pervasive spiritual life in the ancient Southeast Asia.
The Exhibition of Oc Eo Cultural Heritage presents about 100 images and more than 40 original objects of the Oc Eo cultural heritage dating between the second and the seventh centuries AD. Although it is only a small part of the Oc Eo cultural heritage, through the exhibition, Hanoians as well as international visitors can understand some of the Oc Eo culture, one of the three major cultures in the Vietnamese archaeological history.
The Exhibition of Oc Eo Cultural Heritage will last until May 24, 2018.
