This is a meaningful cultural activity that contributes to spreading the enduring values of the tradition of respect for learning, reverence for teachers, and esteem for talent – spiritual foundations that shape the character and identity of the Vietnamese nation.

The exhibition presents a comprehensive overview of the formation and development of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, a sacred symbol of the Vietnamese tradition of respect for learning and reverence for teachers. The exhibited materials were carefully selected from hundreds of valuable sources, providing an overview of the education and examination system during the monarchical period, honoring eminent scholars who contributed to laying the academic foundations of the country, and reflecting contemporary efforts in preserving and promoting the values of the site.

In addition, the exhibition dedicates a separate space to introducing the examination tradition of Binh Dinh Province – a land renowned as both a “martial land” and a “land of learning.” Through artifacts, documents, and portraits of historical figures, visitors have the opportunity to learn about scholars originating from the locality and their outstanding contributions to the history of education and state administration in Vietnam.

Valuable documents displayed at the Exhibition

One of the distinctive highlights of this exhibition is the design of the display space inspired by the folk game Ho Bai Choi, a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Instead of using traditional information panels, the contents are vividly presented on “cards” modeled after those used in the Bai Choi game. This approach helps visitors easily access and remember historical information, while subtly honoring the distinctive cultural characteristics of the people of Binh Dinh.

Thereby, the exhibition contributes to nurturing a spirit of learning, preserving cultural identity, and awakening a love for history and culture, so that today’s young generation can see themselves in that journey and continue it with their own aspirations in the flow of a new era.”
