The Ministry has assigned the Department of Cultural Heritage to lead, in collaboration with relevant agencies and units, the organization of the Training – Scientific Seminar “Identifying, Managing, Protecting, and Promoting the Value of Documentary Heritage.” The program is expected to take place over three days before December 20, 2024, in Can Tho City.

The seminar aims to assess the current state of management, particularly in identifying, protecting, and promoting the value of cultural heritage in general and documentary heritage in particular. It focuses on the protection, promotion, and dissemination of the value of world documentary heritage and Asia-Pacific documentary heritage (under the Memory of the World Program) after they are inscribed. The seminar will also facilitate the exchange and sharing of experiences regarding the process of inscribing documentary heritage in Vietnam and its future development, as well as the management and protection of documentary heritage.

The seminar will cover the following main contents: The training content on documentary heritage includes summarizing activities for protecting and promoting the value of documentary heritage in general and those inscribed on the World and Regional Documentary Heritage Lists; practical protection and promotion of documentary heritage values.
The scientific seminar “Identifying, Managing, Protecting, and Promoting the Value of Documentary Heritage” will be divided into subcommittees: Subcommittee 1 will focus on identifying and experiences in developing documentary heritage nomination dossiers in the northern and central provinces/cities; Subcommittee 2 will address identifying and experiences in developing documentary heritage nomination dossiers in the southern provinces/cities. Participants will visit and learn from the experience of protecting and promoting the value of the Buong Leaf Scriptures and some relics in An Giang.
