On the morning of 23 April, at Phu Do Primary School, the People’s Committee of Phu Do Ward, South Tu Liem District, solemnly organized the 1st Physcal Exercise and Sports Congress in 2017. Participating in the event were Mr. Tran Thanh Long, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Director of the Centre for Culture, Information and Physical Exercise and Sports of the District, Ms Nguyen Thi Nga, Deputy Director of the District’s Centre for Culture and Physical Exercise and Sports, representatives from the District’s functional divisions; leaders of the Ward’s Party Committee, People’s Committee and Viet Nam Fatherland’ Front of the District; heads of relevant branches, agencies and unions; Party cells’ heads, heads of the street people groups, school rectors and together with over 700 coaches, athelets, members, youth union members and the masses living within the Ward.
The Congress’ opening ceremony was kicked off with a collective force-showing parade participated by more than 700 athelets, umpires and the mass coming from various street people groups. At the Congress, the traditional flame was lit by Mr. Tran Dac Minh, the Ward Party Committee’s head – cum – People’s Committee. On the festival part, it was rather vividly taking place with many interesting performances, namely: Kylin dance, festival drum, physical exercises by the elders, martial arts, collective physical exercises by pupils, ect..
Right after the inaugural ceremony, the Congress’s Organizing Committee held a tug of war game and awarded 3 prizes, a first, second and third respectively.
By organizing the Physcal Exercise and Sports Congress, Phu Do District had had a chance to reevaluate the development of physical exercises and sports activities among the public and people, the armed forces, cadres and civil servants and officers; as well as the physical education in schools; hence awakening the potentials in physical exercises and sports of a large of people from all walks of life in the District area, mobilizing the entire masses to regularly participate in physical exercises and sports activities in order to improve their health beneficial to labour, study, work, national construction and defence during the current period; at the same time, selecting high-achievement players from the grassroots movement to compete a the District-level Physical Exercises and Sports Congress in 2017.
