The launching ceremony of the competition was held at the Hanoi Children’s House on September 9th, 2018 with the participation of over 500 of Hanoi youth. This is a contest for Vietnamese children aged 6 – 15 living and studying at education institutions, Culture Houses, Children’s Houses and facilities for children across the nation.
In order to join the competition, children are to sign up at the website docsachvituonglai.vn. The submissions are videos or writings about their favourite books according to the topics of each period. There will be 06 periods within the month round. The competitors can sign up and submit their work according to the topic of each period. After the end of each period, the organizing committee will present awards for top 05 submissions with the highest votes from the people and top 05 submissions voted by the judges. After that, the committee will select 06 students (03 primary students and 03 secondary students) for the final round.

It was told that the total prize of the competition was worth VND500 millions. At the launching ceremony, children joined multiple meaningful activities such as stationary reading, visiting and storytelling at stands, the “colour of life” painting contest, experiences science and technology… Interestingly, the children had the chance to interact with artist Xuan Bac, singer Thai Thuy Linh and MC Minh Trang about books and the benefits of reading books; how to train frequent reading habits for children… Moreover, the committee also gave away 500 prizes in the form of storybooks of all genres to kids and parents joining the program.

The “reading for future” reading competition is a beneficial activity to encourage reading habits, forming the reading culture among children and teenagers. The competition upheld values and confirmed the role of reading in the learning process, training and refining social skills for children, creating an environment that promotes the reading trend among children and teenagers. Through the competition, children were able to speak their minds and present their perspectives about things they concern through comments to the books and stories.
The summary and awarding ceremony of the “reading for future” competition will be held in May 2019.
