The 80th Singapore Open Track & Field Championships 2018 was held at the Singapore National Stadium on April 11 and 12, 2018. Attending the tournament, the Vietnamese athletics team consists of four athletes, named Nguyen Thi Oanh, Pham Thi Hue, Pham Thi Hong Le and Le Trung Duc. On the first day of April 11, the Vietnamese athletics team won two gold medals in the men’s and women’s 3000m hurdles event.
Le Trung Duc won gold medal in the men’s 3000m hurdles event
Le Trung Duc won and achieved the first gold medal for Vietnam Athletics in the championship. He excellently played in men’s hurdles event and pocketed the first gold for Vietnam Athletics with 9’15 “09. Yu Hin Wa (Hong Kong) achieved the silver in 9: 42.54 and the host athlete, Parajuli Nabin was more than 44 seconds slower than Trung Duc and earned the bronze.
Le Trung Duc and Nguyen Thi Oanh won 2 gold medals for Vietnam athletics team
Vietnamese athletics team continued achieving good news that athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh brought the second gold medal in women’s 3000m hurdles event in 10’42”53, more than 34 seconds faster than the second Chery Chan.
Thus, in the first day of the competition in the Singapore Open Track & Field Championships, Vietnam athletics had two competing athletes won the gold medals. On the last day (April 12), Vietnamese athletics team continued to play the contents of women’s 5,000m (Pham Thi Hue, Pham Thi Hong Le), women’s 1500m (Nguyen Thi Oanh).
