In accordance with Plan No. 93/KH-MTTQ-BTT dated April 8, 2024, issued by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin District on developing the model “Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful” across the district, local agencies and communities have actively implemented the plan based on their specific conditions.

With the criterion of “bright,” many residential areas and villages have renovated and upgraded lighting systems to ensure safety and aesthetics – notably in Hong Van, Van Binh, Duyen Thai, Nhi Khe, Ninh So Communes, and Thuong Tin Town. For the “green” criterion, villages have actively planted trees along main roads and in public spaces. As a result, community-based tree planting has been widely carried out in public areas, residential zones, and heritage sites. Many households also grow fruit trees and ornamental plants to create a fresh environment while earning extra income and improving living standards. To achieve the “clean” criterion, most communes and towns in the district have cleared ditches, stagnant ponds, and blocked drains; removed weeds and bushes; and collected floating waste. Public areas and vacant lots have been regularly cleaned, with garbage collection schedules every week, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.

In 2024, villages and residential clusters organized 2,054 environmental sanitation drives. Many villages performed well in waste management, particularly in the daily collection of household garbage. In addition, communities encouraged residents to purchase 4,093 covered waste bins to ensure environmental hygiene, as seen in Van Binh, Hong Van, and Nhi Khe Communes, etc.

By the end of 2024, a total of 812 road sections had been upgraded with lighting systems funded through a combination of government investment and public contributions. Across the district, 22,000 trees were planted in public areas, along roads, and at cultural centers and heritage sites. Local authorities and residents jointly raised billions of dong to beautify village gateways and decorate alleys, resulting in cleaner and more attractive neighborhoods. Additionally, 13,597 square meters of flowers were planted in public spaces and along residential roads, and 100 mural paintings covering 500 square meters were created. Various departments and social organizations have also launched creative models: the “Youth Self-Managed Roads” (by the Youth Union), the “Flowering Roads” (by the Women’s Union), and the movement “Green – Clean – Beautiful – Safe Workplaces” along with the contest “Green – Clean – Beautiful – Safe Schools and Offices” (by the District Labor Federation). These initiatives have meaningfully contributed to enhancing landscapes and raising environmental awareness among officials, union members, and residents.

The district’s campaign “Promoting Civilized and Progressive Funeral Practices” has also yielded positive results. People have complied well with the new regulations, conducting funerals in a solemn and thrifty manner while eliminating outdated customs. The number of cremations has steadily increased, and public cemeteries are being planned and managed more effectively. In 2024, 1,009 out of 1,311 funeral cases were cremated, accounting for 77%.

On May 14, 2025, Thuong Tin District held a conference to review the emulation movement for building “Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful” self-managed alleys in 2024 and for promoting civilized and progressive funeral practices in the 2022-2024 period. At the conference, the District People’s Committee commended 20 collectives for their outstanding achievements in implementing these initiatives. This recognition honors the dedication and efforts of the participating groups while spreading positive impacts, fostering a habit of green living, and enhancing environmental protection within the community.
