“History Through Stone Steles” is the second 3D mapping film introduced as part of the Temple of Literature Night Tour.

The film narrates the journey of a “turtle” seeking knowledge, navigating a challenging path to discover the essence of wisdom through the pages of books. The ultimate achievement is to be inscribed on the Doctoral Steles at the Temple of Literature. Each Doctoral Stele is akin to a book, a stone chronicle of the nation’s educational and examination history.
Speaking at the premiere of the second 3D mapping film “History Through Stone Steles,” Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities at the Temple of Literature, stated that exactly one year ago, the Center launched the 3D mapping film “Essence of Learning,” which has been in operation until today.

“With the desire to continue promoting the values of the Temple of Literature, we have strived to explore, think, and create new film content based on the monument’s values, and today we introduce ‘History Through Stone Steles’ to the audience.”
In the first film, “Essence of Learning,” visitors witnessed the journey of a student from childhood, through village schools, becoming a student at the Temple of Literature, passing exams, achieving academic success, and returning home in gratitude to parents and ancestors before serving the nation in the capital, Thang Long. This reflects the core values of Vietnamese learning, emphasizing the spirit of learning, respecting teachers, and valuing talent.

In the subsequent film, “History Through Stone Steles,” we encounter the image of a “turtle” again, this time as a young turtle on a quest for knowledge, enduring a challenging journey.
Passing the exams and then return home in glory
The film portrays the pursuit of wisdom through books, culminating in being inscribed on the Doctoral Steles at the Temple of Literature. The transformation of a book into a stone stele in the film evokes the core values preserved at the Temple of Literature: the Doctoral Steles of Thang Long – a World Documentary Heritage and a national treasure.
The film aims to continue tapping into the values of the Temple of Literature and the wise figures enshrined there to promote and introduce these values to the public and visitors, especially young people, fostering a love for the heritage of their ancestors and inspiring them on their future journeys.
The film explores the theme of the Doctoral Steles in an approachable, friendly manner, appealing to a wide audience. Moreover, the use of light projection technology and EDM-inspired modern soundtracks will captivate viewers, particularly younger audiences. The film “History Through Stone Steles” is scheduled to premiere in the Temple of Literature Night Tour in early December 2024.
