Selected from thousands of scientific materials, paintings, and photographs, the exhibition content is typical and presented in a diverse manner, aiming to recreate the formation and development process of the Temple of Literature – National University. Visitors to the exhibition are taken on a journey back in time, immersed in the scholarly and cultural space of the Temple of Literature – National University during various historical periods of the Dai Viet nation. It offers insights into the traditions of scholarly pursuit, respect for teachers, and the nation’s emphasis on talent, as well as honors cultural figures and scholars from Bac Ninh who have contributed to the country, inspiring and instilling creativity and enthusiasm in the younger generation.

The exhibition is presented through two main themes: “Temple of Literature – National University: The Quintessence of Vietnamese Scholarship,” covering topics such as The Temple of Knowledge, Nurturing Talent, The Journey of Examinations, and Stone Steles with a message that the Temple of Literature – National University is the convergence of Vietnamese scholarly excellence, significantly contributed to by cultural figures such as Kings Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong, Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An, the principal of the National University.

The second theme, “The Scholarly Tradition of Bac Ninh Province,” includes topics like From the Temple of Literature – National University to the Temples of Literature and Shrines in Bac Ninh, Famous Scholars, and Scholarly Families, conveying the message that this land is the center of Kinh Bac with a long-standing culture, a place of exceptional talent, and a tradition of scholarly pursuit.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dap, Deputy Director of the Bac Ninh Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, affirmed: “The exhibition is one of the activities aimed at promoting a special national historical and architectural monument of the capital and the entire country, showcasing the connection between the Temple of Literature – National University and Bac Ninh Temple of Literature and the scholarly tradition of Bac Ninh Province. I believe that the exhibition will help visitors, especially those from Bac Ninh, as well as people across the country, better understand the role and value of this precious heritage, contributing to the preservation of national cultural and educational traditions, encouraging the scholarly spirit of the people, particularly the younger generation in Bac Ninh, with the aim of bringing heritage closer to all citizens and regions of the nation.”

In the opening space, the exhibition also offers visitors new and exciting experiences by blending traditional displays with modern technology solutions such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence (AI). Culture enthusiasts also have the opportunity to experience the art of pattern printing, showcasing typical designs from the 82 doctoral steles currently preserved at the special national monument of the Temple of Literature – National University

Experiential activities at the exhibition

Mr. Nguyen Van Tu, Deputy Director of the Cultural and Scientific Activity Center of the Temple of Literature – National University, stated: “Through this exhibition, we aim to provide the people of Bac Ninh, especially the youth, with a comprehensive view of a prominent monument in Hanoi, fostering a love for cultural heritage, the tradition of scholarly pursuit, respect for teachers, and the spirit of autonomy, resilience, creativity, and the aspiration to rise, contributing to the construction of a prosperous and happy country.”

The exhibition will provide the public in Bac Ninh with a rich and valuable resource for researching and learning about the special national monument of the Temple of Literature – National University and the scholarly tradition of Bac Ninh Province in particular, and the history, culture, and scholarly education of Vietnam in general.

The exhibition will take place from November 13 to December 31, 2024, at Bac Ninh Temple of Literature (address: Zone 10, Dai Phuc Ward, Bac Ninh City).
