The exhibition is curated from hundreds of historical documents to recreate the formation and development of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, one of Hanoi’s most significant heritage sites. It stands as a symbol of Vietnam’s cultural and intellectual legacy while honoring the tradition of academic excellence and the cultural icons of Hai Phong.

Speaking at the exhibition’s opening ceremony, Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Activities Center, highlighted that nearly a thousand years ago, the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam was established during the Ly Dynasty. Over the centuries, this site has been recognized as one of Vietnam’s foremost educational institutions, reflecting the nation’s enduring respect for education. Today, the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam symbolizes Vietnam’s tradition of honoring teachers, valuing learning, and celebrating intellect.

The exhibition is divided into two main themes: “Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam: The Essence of Vietnamese Academic Excellence”. This section covers key topics such as “The Temple of Knowledge,” “Nurturing Talents,” “The Examination Journey,” and “Stone Steles of Recognition.” It conveys the message that the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam is a gathering place for the finest aspects of Vietnamese academic tradition, highlighting the contributions of cultural luminaries such as King Ly Thanh Tong, King Ly Nhan Tong, King Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An, the esteemed Rector of Quoc Tu Giam.

The exhibitions attracted a lot of students in Hai Phong city.
“The Tradition of Scholarly Excellence in Hai Phong” – This section features topics such as “The Honor Roll of Scholars,” “Valedictorians on the Honor Roll,” “The Scholars of the East,” “Scholarly Lineages,” “The Village of Scholars,” and “Confucian Monuments.” It revisits Hai Phong’s accomplishments in the realm of education, showcasing the remarkable achievements of its distinguished scholars.

“The exhibition aims to offer the people of Hai Phong, especially young audiences, a comprehensive view of an iconic heritage site of Hanoi and the rich scholarly tradition of this ‘red flamboyant city.’ Through this, we hope to foster greater appreciation and love for our ancestors’ cultural beauty and the nation’s tradition of valuing education, inspiring efforts to build a prosperous future for our country,” emphasized Le Xuan Kieu.
