Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Exhibition Opening
The exhibition, carefully curated from hundreds of documents, aims to recreate the formation and development of the Temple of Literature, one of the most important cultural heritage sites in Hanoi, symbolizing Vietnam’s culture and intellectual heritage. It sheds light on and decodes the essence of the nation’s scholarly traditions, while honoring the cultural and historical figures of Ninh Binh, the ancient imperial land.
The exhibition comprises two main themes: “Temple of Literature: The Essence of Vietnamese Scholarly Education” with contents on the Temple of Knowledge, Nurturing Talents, the Imperial Examination Journey, and Stone Tablets Commemorating Names. These elements convey the message that the Temple of Literature is the gathering place of the essence of Vietnamese education, with significant contributions from cultural figures such as Kings Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong, Le Thanh Tong, and National Academy Superintendent Chu Van An.
The theme, “The Scholarly Tradition of Ninh Binh,” with contents on the Ninh Binh Imperial Examinations, Confucian Relics, and the Golden Tablets Commemorating Names, revisits the development of Ninh Binh’s educational system, highlighting the existence of local temples, academies, and the significant legacy of 10 doctoral laureates under various royal dynasties.

Delegators Visiting the Exhibition and Interactive Activities
In his opening speech, Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Temple of Literature Cultural and Historical Activity Center, mentioned that the exhibition, curated from thousands of documents, has recreated the process of the Temple of Literature’s formation and development, as well as the distinctive scholarly traditions of Ninh Binh. The exhibition introduces to the public several cultural figures who made significant contributions to both of these cultural landmarks. Visitors will feel as though they are taking a journey back in time, immersing themselves in the knowledge and cultural atmosphere of the Temple of Literature and Ninh Binh’s imperial land throughout various historical periods of Great Vietnam.
“Through this exhibition, we hope to offer the people of Ninh Binh, especially the youth, a panoramic view of one of Hanoi’s most significant historical monuments. It also serves as an opportunity to learn more about the tradition of valuing knowledge, respecting teachers, and the scholarly figures of Ninh Binh. We hope this exhibition will provide the public with a rich and valuable resource for studying and exploring the National Special Heritage Site, the Temple of Literature, and Ninh Binh’s historical education traditions,” said Le Xuan Kieu.
