The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023, themed “Flow,” concluded on the evening of November 28 at the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory (Long Bien District, Hanoi).
In attendance were Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Dang Thi Phuong Hoa, along with representatives of the city’s departments and sectors.
Honored units, organizations, and individuals were recognized at the closing ceremony.
Taking place from November 17 to 28 at the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory and various locations throughout the city, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023, centered around the theme “Flow,” focused on three main pillars: Design, Community, and Innovation. After three seasons of organizing, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 boasted the largest scale, featuring numerous activities, participants, and expansive venues across the city.
The festival encompassed over 60 cultural activities, including the introduction of four architectural works, 20 exhibitions, and displays, 19 seminars and discussions, including five international forums, 12 artistic activities, a series of community events, and a creative fair held at the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory, the Hang Dau Water Tower, the Long Bien Station, and the Gia Lam Station. Additionally, the festival included over 40 cultural activities and events in the districts, towns, and communes of Hanoi, drawing the participation of more than 200 units, creators, and artists.

The organizers revealed that after 12 days of hosting, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 surpassed expectations, leaving an indelible mark on the community. The festival attracted 200,000 visitors to explore and experience the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory, 30,000 visitors to the Hang Dau Water Tower, and sold 26,000 train tickets for the heritage route experience. It garnered proactive engagement and creative contributions from 1,000 content creators, generating over 4 million social media discussions. Accompanying the festival were 100 international delegates and experts participating in workshops and discussions, with 90 media agencies covering the event through more than 1,000 articles.
In addition to the scheduled activities, the festival drew the participation of various organizations and individuals in creative events. Notable examples include the direct art workshop for special children titled “Exploring the Flow” and the Gong Art program “Spontaneity of the Highlands” performed by Bahnar and Jrai artisans from Gia Lai province.
The success of the festival can be attributed not only to the contributions of organizing units, experts, domestic and international organizations, artists, designers, and creative communities but also to the dedicated efforts of the design team, students, volunteers, and the environmental sanitation team at the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory.
At the closing ceremony, the organizers honored localities, units, organizations, and individuals who contributed to the success of the festival.
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 was directed by the People’s Committee of Hanoi City and the Vietnam Association of Architects. It was organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, Architecture Magazine (Vietnam Association of Architects), and the Vietnam Railways Corporation, with the collaboration of the UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), and coordination from the departments, committees, and authorities of districts, towns, and provinces.
