As an annual event, the Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 is set to become a culturally rich weekend destination that connects traditional cuisine with new creative trends through culinary performances, hands-on cooking practices, and exchanges with artisans.

The festival contributes to the preservation and transmission of traditional culinary skills and techniques within the community, particularly among younger generations. With the message “listen to the stories of culinary heritage,” the festival seeks to turn culinary enjoyment into an experiential journey. Through a wide range of creative, interactive activities, new cultural products derived from cuisine will be formed, enhancing the appeal of heritage and enabling cuisine to become a driving resource for the development of the capital’s cultural industry.

The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 features a wide range of activities, including the thematic seminar “Exchange on Improving Human Resource Quality – Developing Culinary Culture”; heritage culinary workshops presented by artisans; performances of circus arts, hat van, hat xam, and street performances; photo exhibitions promoting Vietnamese culture, tourism, and cuisine; book exhibitions and mobile library services.

A highlight of this year’s festival is the 60 culinary spaces introducing Hanoi cuisine and regional specialties, enabling residents and visitors to enjoy a wide variety of signature dishes from Hanoi and other localities, honoring the value of traditional culinary heritage and affirming the brand “Hanoi Cuisine” associated with elegance and refinement.

In particular, at the opening ceremony of the Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 (on the evening of December 19), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will announce the decision to inscribe “The Knowledge of Preparing and Enjoying Cha Ca La Vong (Hanoi City)” on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Since 2022, the Hanoi Party Committee has promulgated Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU on the development of the capital’s cultural industries for the 2021-2025 period, with orientations toward 2030 and a vision to 2045, in which cuisine has been identified as one of the key fields contributing to the development of the city’s cultural industry.

With seven Hanoi culinary heritages already inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, since their recognition these culinary heritages have been increasingly disseminated and have become distinctive specialty gifts carried far and wide.
