In order to improve the research capacity and collection methods of the professional staff, the Management Board of the Relic has organized many professional training sessions. Through these training sessions, staff members have enhanced their qualifications and collection skills.

With collective efforts, the Management Board has received enthusiastic support from organizations and individuals in collecting documents and artifacts. Many witnesses and families have donated documents and artifacts with the desire that the Management Board will preserve, protect, and promote them effectively, contributing to educating the community about national traditions.

During the 2022–2024 period, the Management Board researched the content and designed the artistic aspects for 15 thematic exhibitions at the Relic, as well as 3 mobile thematic exhibitions.

Every year, four periodic preservation activities are conducted for artifacts at the Relic. Therapeutic preservation is carried out for three death row cells and their roofing system, and for 55 artifacts (134 preserved units). Reinforced preservation is applied to two underground sewer doors and the surrounding wall system at the Relic. Labels of deteriorated reliefs are replaced, and several platforms, pedestals, and display cases in exhibition rooms are repaired.

The Management Board published the book “Stories of Hoa Lo Prison” (in Vietnamese) and the book “The Red Almond Tree” (in English) to support communication and promotion of the Relic. A list of 4 artifacts under the category of special fixed assets within its management scope has been compiled. A 3D film titled “Execution of Death Row Prisoners” has been researched and produced for screening in the guillotine display area at the female prison block.

Documents and artifacts used in thematic exhibitions at Hoa Lo Prison Relic

The Management Board has developed scripts and performance procedures for reenactment activities in several exhibition rooms with the goal of truthfully portraying part of the life of revolutionary soldiers during their imprisonment at Hoa Lo Prison. This contributes to enhancing diversity and appeal, while providing visitors with additional historical information about the Relic.

Building on these achievements, the Management Board of Hoa Lo Prison Relic will continue strengthening the collection efforts to gather more documents and artifacts, creating a rich source of materials to support research, revision, and innovation in exhibitions at the Relic
