The Senior Citizens’ Cultural and Sports Festival this year saw the participation of over 1,500 elderly people from 31 communes and towns in the district.
The festival attracted the participation of over 1,500 athletes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Viet Giao, Director of the Ba Vi District Center for Culture, Sports, and Information, stated that over the years, health-related activities have attracted a large number of elderly people in Ba Vi. All 31 communes and towns have developed elderly sports clubs, with over 80% of senior citizens regularly participating in physical exercises. The event provides an opportunity for meaningful recreational and social activities for the elderly in the district; it is also an occasion for senior members from various communes and towns to meet, interact, deepen mutual understanding, and promote good traditions and human values.
The 2024 Elderly Culture and Sports Festival for the Development of the Capital will take place over three days from October 25 to 27. Athletes will compete in five sports across six events: Men’s and Women’s Soft Volleyball, Chinese Chess, Badminton, Table Tennis, and a self-chosen demonstration sport event.

The organizing committee awarded prizes for several events that were completed on October 25.
The festival is an annual event in the Ba Vi district’s sports development plan. It is not only a platform for physical exercise and promoting sports participation, but also creates an opportunity for meaningful interaction and exchange within the elderly community. Through the event, the organizers hope that the members of the Ba Vi Elderly Association, with the motto “High age – Bright examples – Unity – Creativity – Development,” will continue to uphold traditions and showcase the humanistic values of the nation.
