In response to the Hanoi Design and Creativity Festival 2023, the Livable Hanoi Network will bring forth three distinctive activities taking place from November 17 to 26.
The Hanoi Design and Creativity Festival is an annual event aimed at implementing initiatives and commitments to UNESCO since Hanoi joined the Creative Cities Network. Organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Vietnam Association of Architects, in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and Architecture Magazine, the 2023 Hanoi Design and Creativity Festival, themed “Flow,” will officially take place from November 17 to 26. This event promises a fresh experience and a visionary perspective of Hanoi as a Creative City for everyone.
In response to the Hanoi Design and Creativity Festival 2023, the Livable Hanoi Network will present three special activities throughout the festival period from November 17 to 26.
These three activities include the exhibition “Hanoi, a Fertile Land for Nesting Birds,” the exploratory journey “Back to the Middle Ground,” and the symposium “The Beauty of Ordinary Landscapes.”
Hanoi boasts a rich diversity of both resident and migratory bird species, with the midstream area of the Red River alone hosting over 200 migratory and approximately 40 resident bird species. However, the pressing issues of hunting and ecological degradation are significantly impacting the existence of numerous avian species. The survival and flourishing of these birds serve as crucial indicators of the environmental and ecological quality of a region. Preserving habitats for both migratory and resident wild birds is not only a commitment to the avian world but also a broader commitment to safeguarding the overall ecosystem and living conditions for humanity.
The exhibition “Hanoi, a Fertile Land for Nesting Birds” is a collaborative effort between the Livable Hanoi Network and the Vietnam Bird Research and Conservation Group. Its objective is to introduce various wild and migratory bird species, along with the necessity of conserving their natural habitats, to the residents of Hanoi. The exhibition, scheduled to run from November 17 to 26 at the Octagonal House near Hoan Kiem Lake, aims to raise awareness about the ecological significance of these birds in the context of Hanoi.
The midstream area of the Red River can be considered a rare “green oasis” within the modern capital. In contrast to the hustle and bustle of urban streets or the opulence of towering skyscrapers, the midstream area retains the serene, rustic charm of dirt paths and the lush greenery of trees. However, these tranquil scenes rarely capture our attention or draw us into their simple beauty.
The exploratory journey, “Back to the Middle Ground,” offers participants a chance to immerse themselves in nature. Through activities such as cycling, meditation, strolling through orchards, and engaging in conversations with local residents, participants can connect with urban nature through all their senses. This immersive experience aims to evoke reflections on the bond between humanity and nature.
The symposium, “The Beauty of Ordinary Landscapes,” will share specific examples of exploring the natural beauty around us, anywhere and everywhere. Taking place on the afternoon of November 19 at the Gia Lam Locomotive Factory – an industrial heritage site transformed into a creative space – the symposium promises to provide attendees with a profound and enriching journey, fostering a deeper aesthetic appreciation for nature. This, in turn, contributes to a more spiritually fulfilling and environmentally responsible way of life.
