At the Asian Airgun Championship held from December 6-12 in Wako City, Japan, athletes Tran Quoc Cuong, Hoang Xuan Vinh, and Nguyen Dinh Thanh of the men’s 10 meter airgun team won us a bronze medal in the men’s 10 meter airgun team event with a total score of 1,728.
With a personal score of 582, athlete Tran Quoc Cuong finished second in the men’s qualification and finished seventh in the finals. Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh competed with a new gun and finished only in ninth place with a score of 575.
The total score of the three athletes Tran Quoc Cuong, Hoang Xuan Vinh, and Nguyen Dinh Thanh was still enough for the Vietnamese team to finish in third place and win bronze medal with a score of 1,728. Gold medalists were Indian athletes (1,735 points) while silver medals were claimed by the Chinese team (1,729 points).
At the same tournament, athlete Nguyen Duy Hoang scored 612.5 and finished in 21st place in the men’s 10 meter rifle event.
The Asian Airgun Championship started on December 6 in Wako City (Japan) and ended on December 12. In the women’s 10 meter airgun event, Le Thi Linh Chi also finished in seventh place in the finals with a score of 133.8.
Regarding Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh’s results at the tournament, Coach Nguyen Thi Nhung said that his gun had been broken and repaired recently, so his performance was relatively good. Xuan Vinh’s performances have gradually been stable and the team is looking forward to winning medals at the Asian Games.
