Located in the southwestern part of Hanoi, Ha Dong is a land rich in history, culture, patriotic traditions, and resilient revolutionary spirit. Over its 120 years of formation and development, with eight administrative changes, including separations, mergers, renamings, and boundary adjustments, Ha Dong has always lived up to its role as the central hub of Ha Dong Province, Ha Son Binh, and Ha Tay. Marking 120 years since its founding and 70 years since its liberation, Ha Dong’s Party Committee, authorities, and people take pride in their significant contributions to the nation’s struggles for liberation and its development.
In 2024, Ha Dong District will host various activities to celebrate the 120th anniversary of its founding (December 6, 1904 – December 6, 2024) and the 70th anniversary of its liberation (October 6, 1954 – October 6, 2024). These events will also align with the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024).

The district has planned numerous practical activities, including the groundbreaking and inauguration of key projects: the renovation of Nguyen Trai Park, the refurbishment of Ha Dong Flower Garden, the construction of Ha Dong Secondary School, and the groundbreaking of Le Loi High School. Other notable events include participating in the 1st Hanoi Book and Reading Culture Festival 2024 under the theme “Books Open Worlds, Knowledge Opens Futures.” The district will also collaborate to produce a documentary titled “Ha Dong 120 Years – Aspiration to Connect and Reach Far”. Additionally, a painting and photography exhibition will be organized to celebrate this historic milestone.

Ha Dong will host the 2024 Van Phuc Craft Village Culture-Tourism-Commerce Week under the theme “Ha Dong Silk – Quintessence Converges.” A competition titled “Young Talented Cultural Tourism Ambassadors for Craft Villages in Ha Dong” will be held for the first time. The district will also present awards for the “Creative Design of Patterns and Motifs for Silk Products” competition. Other initiatives include establishing Kim Dong Book Libraries in Phuc La and Ha Cau Wards and hosting events such as the “Graceful Ao Dai of the Silk Land” contest and the “Ha Dong Women’s Festival of Radiance”.

Vibrant sports activities will also take place, such as the 20th Family Badminton Tournament, Fitness Competitions for middle-aged and senior residents, Workers and Employees Sports Festivals, Youth Football Tournaments, Cross-Country Races, Table Tennis Club Championships, and Elderly Soft Volleyball Tournaments.
The district will launch urban beautification campaigns, ensure traffic safety, clean the environment, and enhance visual decorations. These efforts will include planting flowers and ornamental trees to beautify the landscape. Ha Dong will also organize activities to honor those who have contributed to the nation, such as visiting and gifting prominent individuals who have rendered significant service, among others.
