With many effective and practical models, the women of Ung Hoa District have created a positive transformation in the awareness and actions of officials, members, women, and the community regarding plastic waste reduction, environmental protection, and contributing to the building of new rural areas and civilized cities.
Focusing on building happy, civilized families and creating green, clean, and beautiful environments, the Women’s Union of Ung Hoa District has effectively implemented various emulation movements and campaigns, such as the movement “Capital Women Actively Learn and Work Creatively to Build Civilized and Happy Families,” “Drug Prevention from the Family,” and campaigns like “Capital Women with Good Manners,” and “Building Families with 5 No’s and 3 Clean’s.” Among these, the “Building Families with 5 No’s and 3 Clean’s” campaign has garnered strong participation from officials and union members. As a result, many effective models have emerged, creating a positive impact on the community. Notable examples include the “Exchange Waste for Green, Charity Fundraising” model, “Say No to Plastic Bags,” “Women’s Union Using Baskets When Shopping,” “Turning Waste Dumping Areas into Women-managed Flower Gardens,” “Clean Rice Fields,” and “Sorting and Processing Organic Waste at Rural Households.”

Fashion Show from Recycled Waste Materials at the “New Life from Waste” Contest
One highlight of the women’s activities in Ung Hoa District was the successful organization of the “New Life from Waste” contest, which celebrated World Environment Day (June 5) and the Environmental Action Month of 2024. The event saw active participation from the Women’s Union of communes and towns. Contestants showcased outfits made from recycled waste materials and displayed booths with practical, lively items made from recycled products, including household goods and toys. The event spread messages about reducing waste, especially plastic waste, to protect the environment.
The practical models and activities carried out by the women of Ung Hoa District have made a positive contribution to building cultural life at the grassroots level and creating a rich, civilized locality. In 2023, the district achieved a 93.9% rate of cultural families, with 54,785 out of 58,321 families recognized. In 2024, the rate of registered cultural families reached 96%, with 56,072 out of 58,321 households. Recently, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Vietnam Family Day and in support of the National Action Month for Domestic Violence Prevention in 2024, the People’s Committee of Ung Hoa District awarded Certificates of Merit to 70 exemplary cultural families and 20 households with outstanding achievements in implementing the “Building Families with 5 No’s and 3 Clean’s” movement.
