“Tet Street” takes place in many relics in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. At the opening ceremony of the “Tet Street” taking place at Kim Ngan Communal House, 42 – 44 Hang Bac, Hoan Kiem district, residents and tourists witnessed the offerings preparation activity of the Hanoi family to offer featured offerings on the Communal House. The Organizing Board re-created the procession from Heritage House – 87 Ma May to Kim Ngan Communal House in traditional costumes; Listing Ceremony to Tutelary gods. In particular, a large number of delegates and people participated in the making of the Lunar New Year pole and folk performance activities: singing, Mua Cua Dinh (Hai Phong), Xoan singing (Phu Tho), and Mua bong (Trieu Khuc, Hanoi), cheo singing, hat van, etc. Also at Kim Ngan Communal House, the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board introduced the traditional New Year living space, organized a talk about traditional traditions of Hanoi people.<\/p>\n

At the Heritage House – 87 Ma May, Hang Buom Ward, Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board also arranged to introduce a Tet space of a Hanoi family and introduce the activity of Banh Chung making. At Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center, 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Hang Buom Ward is a display space to introduce mouse images in folklore. There is also a traditional musical performance of the Dong Kinh Co Nhac group. At Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center, 28 Hang Buom, Hang Buom Ward, the Organizing Board displayed, introduced the process and some typical products of three Vietnamese folk paintings: Hang Trong, Dong Ho, Kim Hoang. At the same time, the gallery displayed several workflows of the three traditional folk painting lines. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board introduced traditional music art to the people at Kim Ngan Communal House, Dong Lac Communal House, Quan De Temple, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall.<\/p>\n

The program received the attention of many people and visitors.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mr. Dinh Hong Phong, Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee said, “Tet Street” is organized to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, helping young people to pay more attention to traditional cultural values of ancestors. On October 30, 2019, Hanoi City was honoured to be one of 246 cities officially joining the UNESCO network of Creative Cities in the field of creative design. UNESCO highly appreciates the cultural activities organized by the community itself. Therefore, the “Tet Street” program will largely be implemented by the community to promote the values \u200b\u200bof Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage in particular and Hanoi in general.<\/p>\n

“Tet Street” will take place until the end of February 9 (ie January 16, Canh Ty year). In addition to the “Tet Street” activity at the heritage sites, the Phung Hung Mural Street area also has various activities. On the occasion of Canh Ty New Year 2020, the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board organizes decoration and lighting of the space of Phung Hung mural street area and Hang Luoc Street flower market. There will be introduction and performance activities for some Tet crafts such as Folk painting, animals made by clay, bamboo and rattan weaving, pottery, fine art wooden craft, sculpture, calligraphy, folk games and some of the typical agricultural products of the provinces across the country. Operation period until the end of January 19 (ie December 25, Canh Ty year).<\/p>\n
