\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em>Ms. Pham Thi My Hoa, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports delivered the opening speech<\/em><\/p>\n Speaking at the opening of the blood donation program, Ms. Pham Thi My Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports said: Currently, every day, every hour, many patients are facing danger to their lives due to insufficient blood supply in time, especially victims of labor accidents, traffic accidents, and serious diseases with a very high risk of death due to anemia. Therefore, each person only needs to donate a part of their blood to save the lives of others. Faced with the need to supply blood for treatment of patients and people infected with Covid-19 in the capital, implementing the Prime Minister\u2019s Decision on \u201cmobilizing and encouraging people to donate blood voluntarily\u201d, promoting the humanitarian tradition of \u201cDo unto others as you would have them done unto you\u201d, the Department of Culture and Sports organized a blood donation program with the theme \u201cA drop of blood can save a life\u201d with the participation of over 200 officials, civil servants, public employees and youth union members of the Department. This is a meaningful activity in the period when the whole country joins hands in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, making a small contribution to the treatment and treatment of sick people in the capital.<\/p>\n On behalf of the blood receiving unit, Dr., MD., Tran Ngoc Que, Deputy Director of the National Blood Center, on behalf of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, thanked the leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports, officials and employees of the Department have always cared and supported voluntary blood donation activities. He said: According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, the amount of blood to meet the emergency and treatment needs of a country must be at least 2% of the population participating in blood donation. In Vietnam, in 2020, our country will only receive over 1.5 million blood units, meeting about 80% of the patient\u2019s needs. At some times such as the Lunar New Year, when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out and spread in the community, it caused severe anemia, threatening the lives of thousands of patients.<\/p>\n In addition to providing blood to serve over 180 hospitals in the North, the National Institute of Hematology – Blood Transfusion has accompanied the South with more than 17,000 blood units. And today, 1,000 blood units are preparing to Can Tho to support emergency and treatment. Every day, every hour, patients are waiting for precious units of blood. Therefore, the Institute urgently needs the voluntary blood donation of the whole community and society. \u201cA drop of blood can save a life\u201d. The blood units received by the Institute today are an invaluable gift to patients who help them and their families overcome difficulties.
