Previously, Dong Anh district was infamous for retaining many outdated habits in organizing funerals. Since the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals in the spirit of Directive No. 27-CT\/TW in 1998 of the Central Committee of the Party and the implementation of Scheme No. 02 on continuing to promoting progressive civilization in the District, in the period 2008-2018 of the People’s Committee of Dong Anh District on continuing to carry out funerals in a civilized and progressive manner in the District, in the period 2008-2018 up to now, after many efforts, Dong Anh district has become the leading locality in the city on the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in mourning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Up to now, the number of households in Dong Anh who have cremated their relatives upon death has reached over 95%, with some villages reaching 100% such as Ha Lo village (Lien Ha commune).<\/span><\/p>\n

The reason Dong Anh district is so successful in this is because the locality has actively mobilized and propagated to all people about the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in mourning, gradually removing the unbeautiful customs that still exist such as: the practice of body rolling on the road, eating meals at funerals, catching evil spirits, exorcising ghosts, rowing boats to carry coffins, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol at funerals; Avoid leaving dead bodies in the house for long, avoid turning on the funeral speakers loudly, after 12pm and before 5am…<\/span><\/p>\n

Dong Anh District Party Committee has held key cadre conferences and conferences in villages, residential quarters, communes and towns to discuss the implementation of civilized marriage and minerals. Over the past 10 years, Dong Anh District has organized 9,750 people’s conferences to discuss building a cultural life; supplementing the conventions of villages and residential quarters, including content on the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, festivals, implementation of a new cultural lifestyle so that the people can voluntarily and actively implement the content. Co Loa Commune has another creative idea: Sending condolence letters to all families who choose to cremate their deceased relatives. Phuong Trach Pagoda (Vinh Ngoc commune) has a model of an ashes storage system according to modern technology of Taiwan and Japan, which both saves land resources and ensures hygiene.
