In the ancient palace, many activities took place on Mid-Autumn Festival. Under the Ly dynasty, the Mid-Autumn Festival was a festival organized by the king with activities of ancestor worship, boat race, Water puppetry, and land puppetry. During the Tran Dynasty, aristocrats drank wine, recited poetry and watched the scenery. By the time of Le Trung Hung, it was stated that the festival in Lord Trinh’s palace was splendidly decorated with thousands of lights to create a shimmering, colorful mid-autumn night. In folklore, the Mid-Autumn Festival became colorful with the custom of playing with colorful lanterns and enjoying parties under full moon light, etc.<\/p>\n
In order to promote the World Heritage values of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, especially the intangible cultural values and enhance tourism products, on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2022, the Thang Long – Hanoi\u00a0 Heritage Conservation Center has organized the Mid-Autumn Festival Program with the theme “\u0110\u00e8n thu lung linh (Shimmering autumn lights)” contributing to creating a unique playground for the children of the capital, helping them have more experiences and understand more about cultural history in general and the Mid-Autumn Festival in particular.<\/p>\n

Coming to the Mid-Autumn Festival 2022 program at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, besides enjoying art performances, visitors and children will be able to return to their childhood with special activities. The children will be immersed in the exhibition space “\u0110\u00e8n thu lung linh” with the highlight of the giant lantern and many kinds of traditional mid-autumn lanterns such as star lantern, rabbit-shaped lantern; especially certain mid-autumn lanterns in the early twentieth century were restored by researcher Trinh Bach based on various sources.<\/p>\n

In addition, the children has participated in useful experiential activities such as making sticky rice cakes, star lanterns, rabbit-shaped lanterns, masks from pasteboard, etc.<\/p>\n
