On the morning of November 23, 2022, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences of Vietnam National University, Hanoi held a seminar \u201cHeritages in the Hanoi Creative City\u201d. The seminar was held with participation of a number of experts from a broad range of fields such as urban, heritage and cultural – creative industries. They shared various different perspectives on the role of cultural heritages and the connection between the heritages and Hanoi Creative City. The seminar was also joined by a large number of students in the school and people who appreciate Hanoi’s heritages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences said: \u201cThe fact that Hanoi is recognized as a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network is not only international acknowledgment but also the beginning of an action program of those who love the city, towards the goal that Hanoi is the creative destination of the area in near future. During the journey to find the creativity, the trend and movement of cultural heritages is definitely an integral part of the city’s development. Although it is a relatively young training and research unit in art and creativity, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi is always aware of its position and social responsibilities in the transformation of Hanoi’s creative city. Continuing the academic values that uphold the liberal spirit, indigenous heritage, and interdisciplinary approach of the predecessors, all three departments under the faculty including Heritage Studies, Cultural and Creative Industries, and Urbanism and Sustainable Architecture jointly came up with ideas and prepared the content of the today seminar. The seminar is not simply a place to introduce academic perspectives, but it also shows the concerns, thoughts and perspectives of lecturers and scientists of the faculty during the search for new aspects of Hanoi in its heritages. We believe that open dialogue and the spirit of sharing and cooperation will be one of the best ways for Hanoi lovers to work together to create new and innovative values for the city\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quynh Phuong, Head of the Department of Cultural and Creative Industries, presented the introductory report<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Following the introduction with the theme \u201cCultural Heritage and Relationship with Creative Cities\u201d presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quynh Phuong- Head of the Department of Cultural – Creative Industries, 5 thematic reports was presented: \u201cHeritage-scape and UNESCO\u2019s network of creative cities\u201d (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien – Head of the Department of Heritage Studies\u201d; \u201cCreativity and heritage in architecture\u201d (Dr. Le Phuoc Anh, Head of the Department of Sustainable Urbanism and Architecture); \u201cDormitories and contemporary creative spaces in Hanoi\u201d (Dr. Tran Hau Yen The, Lecturer in Cultural and Creative Industries; \u201cBuilding tourism products from a creative point of view, contributing to the positioning of Hanoi destination\u201d (Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Lecturer in Cultural and Creative Industries) and \u201cPromoting the value of the traditional performing arts in the context of Hanoi joining UNESCO’s network of creative cities\u201d (Dr. Lu Thi Thanh Le, Lecturer of Cultural and Creative Industries).<\/span><\/p>\n

These thematic reports were carefully and meticulously prepared. They produced high quality and reflected the seriousness, enthusiasm, and responsibility of the speakers about the heritages of Hanoi Creative City.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Seminar, the speakers discussed and analysed the issues raised in the thematic reports as well as answer questions from students and people who love the Hanoi\u2019s heritages.\u00a0 The atmosphere was enthusiastic with many questions, useful and multi-dimensional information about the heritage about current problems in the conservation and promotion of heritage values in Hanoi Creative City, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar was held successfully. This is a practical activity to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (23rd<\/sup> November) and also the last activity in the series of activities in Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n
