<\/p>\nIn the afternoon of 01 November 1 2022, at the United Nations Green Building, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi jointly held a workshop on ” Establishing the Center for Design and Creation – Experiences from Creative Cities of UNESCO in the region\u201d. Workshops are held in-person and virtually.<\/p>\n

Overview of the seminar<\/em><\/p>\n Participants of the workshop include Mr. Chu Xuan Dzung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Christan Manhart – Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Viet Nam; Mr. Thierry Vergon – Director of the French Institute in Hanoi; Mr. Do Van Tru – Chairman of the Cultural Heritage\u00a0Association\u00a0of\u00a0Vietnam; Mr. Hoang Thuc Hao – Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects and many domestic and international experts…<\/p>\n Mr. Chu Xuan Dung Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman delivered the opening speech<\/em><\/p>\n Mr. Christian Manhart – Chief Representative of UNESCO in Viet Nam delivered the opening speech<\/em><\/p>\n In the opening speech, Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee emphasized: Hanoi is the national political-administrative center, the center of culture, science, education and international transactions, it plays an important role in the history and the development of Viet Nam. There are few capitals in the world that have a combination of historical and cultural values \u200b\u200blike Hanoi, with a treasure of abundant and diversified cultural heritages including 5,922 relics and 1,793 intangible cultural heritages and 1,350 craft villages. In particular, Hanoi is currently one of the cities with a golden population structure and a large creative community including designers, artisans, artists, entrepreneurs… Hanoi has had full potential and advantages to become an incubator and a place for convergence, promoting cultural creativity, creating high-quality cultural industry products and services with high competitiveness in the country, the region and the world.<\/p>\n Ms. Sunisa Menarin, the Lecturer at Thammasat University, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, representative of Bangkok city, Thailand is sharing her experience<\/em><\/p>\n Mr. Thierry Vergon – Cultural Attache – French Embassy – Director of the French Institute in Hanoi is sharing his experience<\/em><\/p>\n In 1999, Hanoi was honorably recognized by UNESCO as the City for Peace. In 2019, Hanoi officially joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Design. After three years of implementing initiatives for promoting Design in cultural – economic – social development programs, Hanoi City is currently developing a project on the development of a Creative Design Center in the Capital with the goal of creating a talent incubation center in fields related to creative design, supporting potential creative projects of young designers and promoting international cooperation, step-by-step implementing one of the initiatives and commitments with UNESCO. This workshop is an opportunity for Hanoi to get valuable experiences shared by international guests from the Cities Coordinating Committee of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, representatives of the international organizations in the city, central agencies, businesses and creative hubs.<\/p>\n Mr. Do Dinh Hong – Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports delivered the closing speech<\/em><\/p>\n Participants of the workshop include international experts from Singapore, Bangkok and Sukhothai – Thailand, Bangdung – Indonesia, Wuhan – China, Seoul – Korea, representatives of UN organizations such as HABITAT, UNIDO. There was registration of the French Institute in Hanoi, researchers, management agencies… of research institutes, universities, cultural creation institutions for their presentations. Participants discussed some main contents such as: construction and formation of creative design centers of cities; organizational apparatus, management mechanism and operations of the creative design centers; experience in organizing annual activities, seasonal events and results, budget for the center’s activities, etc.<\/p>\n After listening to the in-person and virtual presentations and opinions during the workshop, participants further discussed to make clarification for contents shared by the guests as well as raised relevant questions.<\/p>\n Delivering the closing speech at the Workshop, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports expressed his pleasure that the workshop received the attention of experts from creative cities in the region and domestic experts. \u201cThe most successful thing of the workshop is that Hanoi received specific opinions enthusiastically shared by experts from the network of creative cities in the region on the formation, organization and operation of the centers. The experience will be extremely useful for Hanoi to realize one of its initiatives and commitments when running for the membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
