On the afternoon of December 1, the Commendation and Recognition Ceremony for Hanoi\u2019s coaches and athletes who excelled at the 19th<\/sup> Asian Games took place at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Distinguished attendees included Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Head of the Department of Sports and Physical Training; Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, among others. A significant presence was also noted from officials, coaches, and athletes of the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.<\/p>\n

Delegates and coaches\/athletes at the Commendation Ceremony<\/em><\/p>\n

The 19th<\/sup> Asian Games occurred in China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. The event featured competitions across 61 sports disciplines, with around 13,000 participants from 45 countries and territories.<\/p>\n

Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong spoke at the ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n

In the reporting session, Ms. Truong Ngoc Lan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, shared that the Vietnamese sports delegation consisted of 504 members. Of these, Hanoi contributed 125 members (1 official, 30 coaches, 94 athletes) competing in 24 out of 61 sports disciplines, including Archery, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Football, Boxing, Canoeing, Sepak Takraw, Chinese Chess, Chess, Weightlifting, Fencing, Athletics, Golf, Jujitsu, Karate, Kurash, Rowing, Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Electronic Sports, Wrestling, Wushu, and Road Cycling.<\/p>\n

Ms. Truong Ngoc Lan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, reported on the achievements of Hanoi\u2019s sports delegation at the 19th<\/sup> Asian Games.<\/em><\/p>\n

After the Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation secured the 21st<\/sup> position out of 45 countries and territories, earning a total of 27 medals (3 gold, 5 silver, and 19 bronze).<\/p>\n

Hanoi\u2019s athletes contributed significantly to the overall success of the Vietnamese sports delegation, clinching 2 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Specifically:<\/p>\n

Gold medals in Sepak Takraw (athletes Nguyen Thi Yen and Tran Thi Hong Nhung in the women\u2019s 4-player team) and Karate (Kata event: athletes Luu Thi Thu Uyen and Nguyen Thi Phuong in the women\u2019s team).<\/p>\n

Silver medals in Shooting (10m Air Rifle: athlete Ngo Huu Vuong in the men\u2019s individual event), Chinese Chess (Mixed pair: athlete Le Thi Kim Loan in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s team), and Sepak Takraw (Team event: athletes Nguyen Thi Yen and Tran Thi Hong Nhung in the women\u2019s 3-player team).<\/p>\n

Bronze medals in Rowing (Athlete Dinh Thi Hao in the W4- event, athletes Dinh Thi Hao and Pham Thi Ngoc Anh in the W8+ event), Wushu (Athlete Duong Thuy Vi in the Swordplay and Dual Swordplay for women, Athlete Hua Van Doan in the 56kg category for men), Karate (Athlete Dinh Thi Huong in the Kumite \u2013 68kg event), Sepak Takraw (Team event: athletes Dau Van Hoang, Vuong Minh Chau, Nguyen Hoang Lan in the men\u2019s 3-player team), and Boxing (Women\u2019s event: athlete Luu Diem Quynh in the 66-75kg category).<\/p>\n

Sepak Takraw Coach Hoang Thi Thai Xuan spoke at the ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking at the commendation ceremony, representing the coaching staff, Coach Hoang Thi Thai Xuan expressed her pride as Hanoi Sepak Takraw athletes contributed one-third of the gold medals achieved by the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 19th Asian Games, marking a significant triumph awaited by Vietnam since the 15th<\/sup> ASIAD, 17 years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach of our coaches is acutely aware that participation and success at the 19th<\/sup> Asian Games are central to the sports sector in the capital city. Following this success, our coaching team will continue to train diligently, preparing our athletes for upcoming national, regional, and international sports competitions. Alongside establishing our dominance at annual national championships, Hanoi\u2019s coaches and athletes will strive to be part of the national team in major international sports events, aiming to defend our top position at the 10th<\/sup> National Sports Games scheduled for the end of 2026,\u201d said Coach Hoang Thi Thai Xuan.<\/p>\n

Karate athlete Nguyen Thi Phuong addresses the audience at the ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n

Representing the athletes, Karate athlete Nguyen Thi Phuong conveyed gratitude to the coaches for their consistent attention, training, and guidance. She highlighted the collaborative efforts, dedication, and resilience that enabled athletes to overcome personal challenges and achieve numerous accolades, including gold medals at the Asian Youth Championships, silver at the World Youth Championships, four gold medals at SEA Games 29, 30, 31, 32, gold medals at the National Sports Games in 2018 and 2022, and multiple national championships. Notably, at the 19th<\/sup> Asian Games, she and her teammates secured a gold medal in the performance category, contributing to Vietnam\u2019s overall success.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond our individual efforts, we are immensely grateful for the city leadership\u2019s attention, investing in training facilities, and providing equipment for both practice and competition.
