<\/p>\nAs one of the fastest urbanizing areas in the country, Nam Tu Liem District is committed to becoming a green, smart, and sustainable city, placing a strong emphasis on enhancing the living environment for its residents. According to the Nam Tu Liem District People\u2019s Committee, following the city\u2019s launch of the \u201cBright, Green, Clean, Beautiful, and Safe\u201d competition for communes, wards, and towns, the district quickly issued an implementation plan. Authorities directed agencies, departments, and ward-level People\u2019s Committees to intensify promotional efforts, encouraging the public to raise environmental awareness and actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and beautifying their living spaces, thereby contributing to improving overall quality of life.<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s interdisciplinary inspection team inspected the site and worked with Nam Tu Liem district.<\/em><\/p>\n Following the rollout of the plan, all 10 wards developed strategies to implement the competition and actively promoted efforts to mobilize residents to maintain weekly public clean-up activities on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Public awareness of environmental sanitation and the importance of keeping streets and groups green, clean, and beautiful has significantly improved. Across the district, over 2,500 new trees, flower pots, and ornamental plants have been added. More than 500 lidded and categorized trash bins have been introduced, while 525 square meters of mural paintings have been created in residential areas. The community has also planted and maintained seven newly established flower-lined roads and flowerbeds, encouraging residents to limewash, paint, repair walls, and hang flower baskets on balconies, enhancing the green, clean, and beautiful landscape.<\/p>\n To maximize the competition\u2019s effectiveness, the district conducted inspections and evaluated all 10 wards based on six categories and 23 criteria. Achievements and areas needing improvement were clearly identified. Additionally, members of the organizing committee frequently monitored high-intensity environmental clean-up campaigns and urged wards to prioritize urban beautification, plant flowers and trees along suitable roads, remove floating debris from water surfaces, unclog ponds and lakes, ensure construction and traffic safety order, and eliminate unauthorized advertisements.<\/p>\n Many streets and alleys have been painted, walls repaired, and flower baskets hung on balconies by local residents, creating green, clean, and beautiful landscapes… (Alley 4, Group 2, Phu Do Ward, Nam Tu Liem District)<\/em><\/p>\n The competition has seen enthusiastic participation from local associations and citizens alike. Group groups, in collaboration with women\u2019s unions, have effectively implemented and maintained programs such as \u201cWaste Sorting at Source\u201d and the campaign to build \u201cFamilies Meeting 5-No, 3-Clean Standards.\u201d They continue to enhance the quality of 191 community-managed street segments, converting former trash sites into flower beds and gardens. Initiatives such as \u201cModel Cultural Residential Clusters,\u201d \u201cSafe and Friendly Groups for Women and Children,\u201d and \u201cSafe Boarding Houses for Women and Children\u201d have also been launched and expanded.<\/p>\n In many alleys and streets throughout Phu Do Ward, vibrant green landscapes have emerged thanks to residents\u2019 environmental awareness and active participation in waste sorting, environmental preservation, and community order maintenance under the \u201cGroup Rules.\u201d Given the predominantly narrow alleyways, fire prevention and safety measures are prioritized, with designated fire safety points set up throughout the community.<\/p>\n lley 101 in Residential Cluster 3 (Phu Do Ward, Nam Tu Liem District) was recognized as a successful grassroots mobilization project.<\/em><\/p>\n Mr. Ngo Van Lich, Secretary of the Party Committee and Head of the Residential Area Front Committee in Group 3, Phu Do Ward, highlighted that the transformation of alleys and streets into green, clean, and beautiful spaces resulted from collective community efforts under the leadership of local authorities. The Phu Do Ward Party Committee passed a resolution focusing on urban order and environmental sanitation. Local authorities implemented comprehensive programs and plans to create green, clean, safe streets and alleys. Through the unified effort of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, mass organizations, group committees, and residents, the \u201cAll People Unite to Build New Rural and Civilized Urban Areas\u201d campaign was effectively executed. Consequently, efforts to promote urban order, environmental sanitation, and fire prevention have deepened, with practical solutions contributing to the ward\u2019s goal of achieving civilized urban standards.<\/p>\n Similar to Nam Tu Liem District, Gia Lam District is also one of the areas experiencing rapid urbanization. The district is simultaneously working on becoming an advanced rural area while also implementing a project to transition into an urban district. For this reason, Hoang Viet Cuong, Head of the Department of Culture and Information in Gia Lam, stated that the district is making significant investments in infrastructure, with well-developed roads and streets. 100% of urban roads, residential streets, alleys, and groups in the district are equipped with lighting systems. The environmental landscape of residential areas in the district has seen many positive changes, including 222 flower streets and 92 mural-painted roads that are regularly maintained to ensure they remain green, clean, and beautiful. Additionally, 44 \u201cBright, Green, Clean, Safe, and Civilized\u201d residential areas have been sustained. The district has provided financial support to 22 communes and towns to maintain, care for, and renovate flower streets, green spaces, and environmental preservation models. The local authorities have successfully planted trees and flowers along 197 out of 272 streets that needed them, created 85 flower gardens, and developed play areas with shade trees. A total of 436 streets in residential areas are kept clean, while 243 main streets remain free of waste after collection hours. The district also regularly carries out efforts to remove unauthorized advertisements, organize the clearing of tents, shelters, awnings, mobile roofs, signposts, billboards, banners, temporary markets, and re-arrange businesses to ensure urban aesthetics and maintain order after the clearance. In particular, the district is implementing wastewater separation embankment projects and improving the environmental landscape around ponds and lakes. Additionally, efforts to regularly beautify sidewalks, push for the undergrounding of telecommunication cables, and organize electric lines along the streets are underway.<\/p>\n The road section with lighting project invested by socialized resources is located in Duong Danh hamlet, Duong Xa commune, Gia Lam district.<\/em><\/p>\n In addition, various organizations and associations have implemented numerous creative models to build and preserve a clean, green, beautiful, and safe environment, such as the model \u201cExchanging Plastic Waste for Green Plants and Eco-friendly Products,\u201d which collects recyclables to raise funds for supporting women and children. In the first nine months of 2024, this initiative raised 25.3 million VND from waste collection activities. Another model, \u201cClassifying and Treating Household Waste,\u201d was implemented in 22 communes and towns, involving 1,470 households. Other notable models include \u201cBringing Plastic Waste to the Green Living Journey,\u201d \u201cGreen Waste Treatment Houses,\u201d \u201cThe Battery House,\u201d and \u201cRecycled Flower Roads.\u201d However, Mr. Hoang Viet Cuong also pointed out that there are still cases of waste being burned or discarded in improper places, causing environmental pollution and negatively impacting the landscape in some areas. Additionally, the issue of advertising flyers being posted on electric poles and house walls continues to tarnish urban aesthetics.<\/p>\n Flowering roads and mural paintings bring significant changes to the environment of residential areas in Gia Lam district.<\/em><\/p>\n Through inspections and assessments, the inspection team also acknowledged that local authorities have been closely involved in directing and investing resources to effectively implement the competition. This ensures a green, clean, beautiful, and safe living environment for local residents. Various associations have worked alongside the community to help maintain well-kept, waste-free streets and groups.
