This area concentrates numerous traditional craft streets, historical, cultural, and architectural sites deeply intertwined with the history of Thang Long – Dong Do – Hanoi. The values of Hanoi\u2019s Old Quarter are a critical element in identifying the urban cultural identity of the Capital City. These are not merely historic sites and ancient houses with distinctive planning, construction, and architectural characteristics – with historical traces – but also cultural values existing within each house, each family, and each individual through daily life activities, culinary arts, and traditional festivals.<\/p>\n

Hanoi People\u2019s Committee Vice Chairman Duong Duc Tuan presented a commendation to Hoan Kiem District<\/p>\n
Over the past 20 years, Hoan Kiem District has focused on directing heritage preservation and promotion efforts, including technical infrastructure renovation, street facade improvements, and relocating hundreds of households comprising nearly a thousand residents. They have also restored several notable sites such as Bach Ma Temple, Kim Ngan Communal House, Quan De Temple, Guangdong Assembly Hall, and Fujian Assembly Hall. These restored religious and cultural spaces have become cultural institutions for residents and tourist attractions that offer insights into Hanoi\u2019s formation and development, attracting domestic and international artists to perform in the capital.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian spaces have been continuously expanded, meeting the needs of residents and tourists for cultural exploration, sightseeing, shopping, and culinary experiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 20th<\/sup> anniversary of Hanoi\u2019s Old Quarter receiving the National Heritage Site Certificate and 20 years of pedestrian space operations is an opportunity for Hoan Kiem District to review implemented projects and activities. Simultaneously, we aim to provide guidance and plans to continue preserving and promoting the values of Hanoi\u2019s Old Quarter, as well as efficiently organizing pedestrian and public spaces in the spirit of Hanoi City Committee\u2019s Resolution No. 09-NQ\/TU on \u2018Cultural Industry Development in the Capital Area for the 2021-2025 period, outlook to 2030, vision to 2045\u2019 and, especially, implementing the Capital City Law effective from January 1, 2025,\u201d Pham Tuan Long emphasized.<\/p>\n Hoan Kiem District honored individuals who contributed to preserving and promoting the Old Quarter\u2019s values.<\/p>\n On this occasion, Hoan Kiem District will organize an exhibition showcasing images, projects, and activities related to preserving and promoting Hanoi\u2019s Old Quarter and pedestrian space activities at the Digital Arts and Culture Center, 22 Hang Buom Street, from December 1-15, 2024.<\/p>\n The district will also host traditional artistic and musical performances, exhibitions, and craft village experience events at Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area, Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street, and Kim Ngan Communal House at 42-44 Hang Bac Street from now until December 15, 2024.<\/p>\n H.A<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Speaking at the ceremony, Hoan Kiem District People\u2019s Committee Chairman Pham Tuan Long noted: Hanoi\u2019s Old Quarter is a unique architectural planning complex, serving as a testament to the earliest and most bustling urban development process in Vietnam.
