From December 19 to 21, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports will organize the Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 at Thong Nhat Park, under the theme \u201cHanoi \u2013 A Culinary Journey Connecting Creativity.\u201d The festival aims to honor Hanoi\u2019s culinary culture and position it as an attractive form of cultural tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival is an annual event assigned by the City People\u2019s Committee to the Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with relevant units.<\/em><\/p>\n

Since 2022, the Hanoi Party Committee has issued Resolution No. 09-NQ\/TU (dated February 22, 2022) on the development of cultural industries in the Capital for the period 2021\u20132025, with orientations to 2030 and a vision to 2045, in which cuisine is identified as one of the key fields contributing to the development of the city\u2019s cultural industry.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the press conference on the afternoon of December 16, Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, stated that since 2014, the city has carried out inventories of intangible cultural heritage, identifying hundreds of culinary heritages and including them in the city\u2019s heritage list.<\/p>\n

Hanoi currently has seven culinary heritages inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, including: Hanoi pho; the craft of making Me Tri green rice flakes (Tu Liem Ward); the craft of scenting Quang An lotus tea (Tay Ho Ward); the craft of making Phu Thuong sticky rice (Phu Thuong Ward); the craft of making Thanh Tri steamed rice rolls (Vinh Hung Ward); and the culinary knowledge of Bat Trang ceremonial feasts (Bat Trang Commune).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 is an opportunity to introduce signature dishes that define the Capital\u2019s identity, while creating a space where tradition meets creativity, where the essence of Hanoi\u2019s culinary culture is honored, spread, and continues its heritage story in contemporary life.<\/p>\n

At the opening ceremony on the evening of December 19, the Organizing Committee will announce the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to inscribe \u201cCulinary Knowledge and Appreciation of Cha Ca La Vong\u201d on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. On this occasion, residents and visitors will have the chance to meet the Doan family and listen to the story of six generations preserving and perfecting Cha Ca La Vong, the iconic dish of Hanoi\u2019s land and people.<\/p>\n

The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 features a wide range of activities, with 60 booths showcasing Hanoi cuisine and regional specialties, enabling residents and visitors to enjoy many signature dishes from Hanoi and other localities, honoring traditional culinary heritage and affirming the refined and distinctive brand of Hanoi Cuisine.<\/p>\n

Within the framework of the festival, there will be many diverse activities, including the thematic seminar \u201cEnhancing Human Resource Quality \u2013 Developing Culinary Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

The festival will also host artisan demonstration workshops; cooking competitions for students; circus performances; ritual singing, xam folk singing, street performances, and art programs blending tradition and modernity; photo and book exhibitions; and demonstrations of culinary heritage such as wrapping banh chung, preparing Bat Trang ceremonial feasts, scenting West Lake lotus tea, the process of making green rice flakes, cooking Phu Thuong sticky rice, cold snail noodle soup, making preserved fruits and jams, and cooking \u201cchao se.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 is the check-in space \u201cA Thousand Words of Pride,\u201d where residents and visitors can share messages and express their pride in Vietnamese pho.<\/p>\n

With the message \u201cListen to the Stories of Culinary Heritage,\u201d the Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 is expected to become an appealing weekend cultural destination, where cuisine is not only for tasting, but also a vivid cultural experience.
