On July 26, at the Hanoi Cultural and Library Center (No. 47 Ba Trieu Street, Cua Nam Ward), the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held the Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation of the Hanoi Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025.<\/p>\n
The contest is part of the plan to organize activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2, thereby further concretizing the Government\u2019s and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism\u2019s Project on the development of reading culture in the community.<\/p>\n

Photo by: Ly Ly<\/em><\/p>\n Attending the Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director General of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Libraries (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Director of the National Library of Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi, President of the Vietnam Library Association; Mr. Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and Head of the Contest Organizing Committee; Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of the Hanoi Cultural and Library Center and Deputy Head of the Contest Organizing Committee; along with a large number of parents and students\u2026<\/p>\n The Hanoi Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025 was launched in April 2025. After more than three months of implementation, the contest received over 250,000 entries, including written submissions and video clips, from more than 1,000 schools across 27 out of 30 former districts, counties and towns throughout the city. The contestants were students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 studying at primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, international schools and other educational institutions in Hanoi.<\/p>\n At the City-level Final Round, the Organizing Committee received 1,350 entries of the highest quality from participating units, including 1,310 written submissions and 40 video clips. Through a serious and impartial evaluation process, the Jury selected 61 outstanding entries for awards. The works were assessed as having profound content and creative forms, demonstrating careful investment and strong potential for dissemination. In particular, many contestants developed feasible and highly practical action plans for promoting reading culture, reflecting a strong sense of responsibility and community awareness.<\/p>\n Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director General of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Libraries, and Mr. Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, presented the First Prize to contestant Nguyen Quang Dang, Class 2A1, An Duong Primary School (Hong Ha Ward). Photo by: Nguyen Anh Tung<\/em><\/p>\n Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of the Hanoi Cultural and Library Center, stated that the Hanoi Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is held annually with the aim of creating a useful and engaging platform for teenagers and students across Hanoi, spreading the passion for reading among the younger generation. The contest also provides an opportunity for students to exchange and share experiences in reading and developing reading culture, thereby encouraging and promoting the reading movement in schools and the community, forming habits and enhancing reading skills for students, and motivating them to strive in their studies and, through concrete actions and deeds, contribute to national development and to building the Capital as a \u201cCultured – Civilized – Modern\u201d city.<\/p>\n The contest took place in the context of nationwide efforts to reorganize and streamline the two-tier local government apparatus, during which many agencies and units had to merge and faced numerous difficulties in implementing professional tasks. However, thanks to the determination and unity of all levels, sectors and localities, especially the close coordination among the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, and grassroots units, the contest attracted widespread participation and generated a vibrant emulation movement throughout the city. Photo by: Nguyen Anh Tung<\/em><\/p>\n The Organizing Committee expressed its hope that the contest would continue to be a useful and engaging platform, attracting broad participation from teenagers and children of the Capital, and leaving positive impressions on delegates and students in future editions of the contest.<\/p>\n Commenting on the quality of the entries, Ms. Le Thi Phuong Lan, Deputy Head of the Division of Political Education, Ideology and Student Affairs (Hanoi Department of Education and Training), on behalf of the Jury, expressed strong impressions of the quality and depth of this year\u2019s submissions. The written entries were carefully prepared, rich in content and written in a relatable style, clearly demonstrating the connection between reading and real-life application.<\/p>\n Most notably, the contestants showed deep literary appreciation, sincere and touching personal reflections, and practical, feasible action plans, indicating that the students not only read books but truly \u201clive\u201d with books.<\/p>\n The Organizing Committee presented Third Prizes to the contestants. Photo by: Nguyen Anh Tung<\/em><\/p>\n According to Ms. Le Thi Phuong Lan, many entries moved the Jury through the way students shared their personal experiences when reading books about family affection, patriotism, and the will to rise above adversity. Some other entries surprised the Jury with the contestants\u2019 rich imagination when they continued or reinterpreted their favorite works in a fresh yet logical and emotionally rich manner.<\/p>\n For video clip entries, the students demonstrated professionalism and creativity by effectively combining images, sound and narration that was coherent, clear and expressive. The products reflected organizational thinking, presentation skills and effective teamwork.<\/p>\n Regarding the development of Action Plans to promote reading culture for themselves and the community, the students provided comprehensive sharing on effective reading experiences, along with plans, solutions and measures to promote reading appropriately for different target groups and age groups, with practical significance and high feasibility.<\/p>\n The Organizing Committee presented Consolation Prizes to the contestants.
